To hell w/paying for that... Just get the QuickOffice app from the market for free. Samsung's made it available only for Captivate (all Galaxy S?) owners.
Open a Word file, tap the first word and the last word which highlights the selected text. But, then what? I don't see Copy in the menu and if you hold on the selected text, it just says "Select Text" (which does nothing) and "Cancel".
EDIT: I just looked at the User Manual. It does not mention copy/paste. So, I guess you can't do it with QuickOffice.
The prompt you're looking for says, "Edit text," & can be found by selecting text, then hold-pressing. The catch is that you need to have the keyboard up in order to get this prompt, apparently.
