Help Does a reset delete apps and setup?

I'm trying to get my phone fixed or replaced. Somebody told me I may have to do a factory reset but I don't really want to do that if it's going to get rid of all of my apps and setup of my pages. I reset on my droid X once and had to redownload all of my apps and make every page on my screen exactly how I had it and it was just a real pain. So overall if I factory reset do I have to redownload all of the apps and set up my phone again?

yes a factory reset is exactly that reseting it to factory setup, so it will be like the first day you took it out of the box

Ok well I guess that's ok, but I'm wondering this as well. When I activated my S3 the first day I got it it automatically downloaded all of my apps for me. Is the same thing going to happen if I reset it? I don't want to sound lazy or anything I just don't have much time to do this stuff here at work. It would be a pain if I had to sit here and search all of these apps and redownload them all. Thanks for the help by the way

When I had my HTC sometimes it did, other times it did not. The easiest way I found to re-download the apps it to us a web browser from a PC. Log into the Play store and go to your apps. Start clicking all the apps you want to re-download and wait for them to finish installing. You do not have to wait for one to download before clicking on the next.

not sure, ive done a few factory resets on my S3 and its never prompted me to download all the apps i had prior to the reset

Alright, thanks a lot. I appreciate it and will most likely try this if the problem persists unless Samsung decides to send me a replacement or fix it. Luckily I got a screenshot of the problem so they can see it. It's really weird. I don't know if anybody else has come across this but if I am anywhere on my phone and then hit the home button my screen flashes black on the right side and then the left side. I don't know why it's doing this

When you first sign into the phone there are tick boxes in the setup to allow Google to backup and to also restore. They're ticked by default. Of course if you previously unticked allow backup then there's nothing to restore.

I turn these options off
