Help Does anyone else think this phone is a lemon?

im sorry i have had this phone for a couple months now and things have just gotten worse and worse. battery life is worse than my mom and my sisters tbolts, it lags like i am running everything on my phone at once, it cant keep up with my text messaging, the screen wont recognize a swipe when i go to unlock it at times, lag going from the internet to my hompage is horrible just to name a few. not to mention the fact tha tthis phone is getting zero software support. i am the only one out there on this?

Sorry your having issues Big Tex. Maybe an OK Sooner bugged your phone.

See if you can find a program that you are running which is the cause. You could go back to square one by formatting the phone and then adding half the apps and testing for a while and then format again and do the other half. Or just use some common sense. Are you running more than one antivirus program? Start by getting rid of any of them you have, and get rid of rich graphic programs (don't run them).. Yes, there's some lag on this phone almost always after running it a while, but probably you shouldn't be that crippled as you are describing.

Im actually having a similar experience, even with 3g set. Im getting another battery so we'll see if that fixes it. O well its usable :D

I am not a fan of the phone at all. I wish I had stuff with a Motorola Droid X or maybe a Droid 3. I trimmed as much fat as I could w/o jailbreaking, but I think that's next. The battery life, even well managed, it pathetic to say the least.

love my Charge - I like it better than iPhone. my only concern is one of the apps keeps crashing it, but aside from that, very impressive.

The lag varies, lots of factors, but my biggest issue before I ROM'd was the homescreen apps I used. Sometimes they'll bring your phone to a crippling halt.
The battery life is very sporadic. You can calibrate your battery (which I recommend), there's a huge process to doing it, they say you need to be rooted to do it (so you can clear your battery stats/usage) however, it's possible to do without rooting, you'll just need to take a much longer time to get it set. The VERY basic is to charge the phone to 100%, turn it off, let it charge to 100% again (because it never truly charges to 100%), unplug, lather rinse repeat about 10 times. THEN, let your phone die, then charge it to 100% and bump charge again (the process I just described). Let the phone die, lather rinse repeat this whole portion ~5 times and your battery/phone will develop a memory of what you're doing. It allows the battery to get a full charge this way, thus increasing your battery life.
Screen non-responsive... Welcome to Verizon/Samsung.
No support... Welcome to Verizon/Samsung.

My vote: This phone would be AWESOME if it had support/updates, and even more awesome if the support/updates actually fixed the problems like data connection and bad reception/call quality. The screen is unsurpassed (at least until the Galaxy Nexus comes out), the processor isnt all that bad and 4G is amazing (when it works). Had the potential to be a great phone, but Verizon/Samsung allowed it to fall on it's face.

This is the worst phone I have ever had. The screen is fantastic, that is the only reason I have kept it since August. I am a phone geek, I have had the OG Droid, Droid X, (both rooted) and switched to this one. If I could, I would go back to my X that randomly rebooted over keeping this phone. I finally just got them to send me a new one because it kept dropping 3G constantly. Not to mention that people couldn't hear me half the time until I restarted my phone, and when I play visual voicemails they all start out with a loud screeching sound (on both phones). I exchanged my first one in the first 14 days because of the screeching, so that makes three phones that do it. I have tried all the battery tricks that I could find on the forums and nothing has helped. I can unplug my phone and be down 13% by the time I get to work without even using it. I know how to make sure my apps are not running and all that stuff. I have been on all the Motorola forums with my previous phone and they are very helpful and knowledgeable and supportive. I have a RAZR on pre order. Can't wait to get back to the Motorola support forums! I will tell anyone to run as far as they can from this phone!!!

Did you get Verizon to replace the phone or are you having to buy the RAZR at full price, details plz. Reason I ask, I've been fighting with Verizon since this phone came out and their ONLY solution is to send me a refurb of this phone. As I've played that game before (and replaced it under the 14 days once, and have read of too many people with the same problems), 6 bad phones later I said * it and broke down and bought this phone. Not happy at all. Moto's are definitely better phones, shame their screens arent up to Samsung quality.

No, they just sent me a refurb last Tuesday after 15 calls to complain. I got on last Friday to pay my bill and the website said I could upgrade at a discount. I knew I wasn't eligible until 6/22/12, but I tried it anyway and it worked! I paid 299 for the RAZR. I will sell this piece of crap on eBay. Good luck!

the charge just no longer has any love, have ya'll tried rooting? and applying roms?
roms can help battery life at times, and can speed things up.. just a suggestion

I was actually mad that I had to do that, but yes. I thought I mentioned it above, but yes, the different ROMs have helped with some issues. Unfortunately, they have also brought along their own sets of problems :S So far I havent found a ROM with everything working for my situation. The problems have become lessened, but they're still present.

Lucky you, getting an upgrade. I'm stuck with this phone for way too long. The bad part is, I've looked at the phones that are available currently, and there's absolutely nothing I'd want. If the iPhone had 4G, I could get on board purely for the fact it works, but the selection that is out currently is appalling. Every single one of them has some issue (4g phones that is). The Galaxy Nexus is supposed to be awesome, but I cannot, in good faith, recommend a Samsung phone to anyone at the moment. If it proves itself, great... Unfortunately that will also mean I can never buy one because they'll be outrageously priced.

The Samsung Charge was absolutely hands down the WORST phone i've EVER owned.

Traded it in for a Droid3 and i am VERY happy!

I hate to say it but i have to agree. While the screen is gorgeous this phone should have never been given the "Droid" name. However since VZW chose to do so and even though to this day they quote themselves on the Droid line being the "elite" phones i have to laugh a little.

I haven't had it as bad as many others have. My phone has worked great (and still does) for what it's hardware allows to this day. That being said i have also rooted, romed and tweaked files within the roms to get it to do so. Even then due to ram limitations it still just can't keep up with the way any other 300 dollar device should.

This phone (along with the TB imo) should have been a 150 dollar phone. Out of the box there is nothing that is elite or top of the line about this device. You have to have the tech know how to get it to do the things you want.

For a mid level phone the Charge isn't bad out of the box. But with a $299 price tag this phone is nothing short of a rip off. Again you can squeeze some juice out of it via rooting, roming and tweaking some files via explorer etc but for the average joe this is one to steer far away from. Considering the price and what else is out there it's just not worth it. Lemon title approved.

verizon brands the droid name on almost all their android phones, minus a select few.

it seems as though moto phones are becoming the real droid phones, while others are taking a backseat

its just the thunderbolt
not Droid Thunderbolt

moto has all the cards for it as well so who knows

I didn't root simply because it was too time consuming to figure it out over here in the Samsung world. Rooting was so easy and supported so much over in the Motorola forums that is why I did it. By the time I rooted my X it was pretty much a two step process, and I don't have time to figure it all out without it being that easy. I just take it as a lesson learned and am thankful for the upgrade coming my way. I figured maybe a verizon rep felt sorry for me and sneaked it in lol :p

My third Charge came today! I too purchased my first one back im August and have been holding on for the luv of the screen! :-) IF this one doesn't work, I'll see about getting the RAZR..or maybe the Rezound. The RAZR has my eye but I don't know about that locked battery..? :-(

I've tried rooting on my first two, and as crazy as it sounds, my phone got worst! I tried the best n suggested ROMs and then tried another after they didn't work. I've done PLENTY of Resets and etc...My friend who got Charge 2wks before me had a lot of the similar issues as I did and some I never experienced. She was on her 3rd also about 2wks ago and they finally opted to give her the Bionic after issues with the last one.

Another thing I hate about this phone and I'm sure drains on the battery is that there are no notification lights! How freakin stupid to put out a $300 phone with no LED's for notifications!!! I installed no LED app that usually works and lets me know when I have a missed call or a text, but I'm sure that little notification thing floating around on my screen is draining on the battery. If you don't have that app you are constantly having to check your phone. No wonder the battery life sucks! Can't wait to get rid of the phone!!! What a rip off. I've learned my lesson and I will never own another Samsung phone again.

i have rooted, i have tune, and overclock, and my charge is running like a dual core...lol
its running smooth, no lag, everything works, i am on gb 2.3.5.

How stupid is it that folks in here are complaining about this phone, and they're going out to buy the RAZR (that has a battery that can't be removed, phone has to be replaced)???

sounds like you may just have a bad phone... that kind of thing does happen quite often here recently.
