Help Does anyone else think this phone is a lemon?

I guess I have to learn to love it though because I have a year and a half left before I can upgrade

Not really...pending your situation and how you look at it. A new phone from Verizon is about $500 or so pending the model. Some are much more. But an average person spends about $100 or so a month for a Verizon smart phone. That is $1200 a year or one really nice laptop. Anyways, what is the difference between spending an extra $200 or $300 right now instead of waiting a year or two? You are already spending thousands on this $300 phone. $2700 over 2 years if you include the initial price of the phone. What is another $200.

I so seriously regret getting the Charge (my wife also). Loved the Droid X, but wanted 4G ... but the Charge often drops to 3G, even after new update! Plus, the bluetooth is horrible. It sometimes only worked one way, now (after update) it does not work at all with my car either way. Verizon says "we just can't help you with Bluetooth in cars." So I'm stuck for 19 more months with a phone that doesn't work in important ways. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SAMSUNG. Even my old Ally was a better phone.

Is there an update for the Bluetooth device in your car? Is your Bluetooth device compatible with the Samsung Droid Charge? Have you tried deleting and unpairing both on the phone and Bluetooth device in your car and repairing them? Have you looked on the web to see if other people are having with the Bluetooth device and their phones? Have you contacted the manufacture of the Bluetooth device? Have you used the phone on another Bluetooth device to see it is indeed the phone?

Yeah I've had my Droid Charge for 4 months now.

Definitely has some flaws:

1. Gets laggy especially getting out of web browser back to home screen.
2. Drops 3G/4G intermittently.
3. Using camera with flash sometimes crashes the phone. (I just don't use the flash at all... no problems then).
4. My vibrate no longer works (might be cause I've dropped it one too many times though).
5. Sometimes it's hard to understand people on the other line because they sound slightly muffled.

The update to Gingerbread hasn't really made a huge improvement as far as I can tell. Web pages even load a little slower now .... even in 4G.

I get improved performance if I re-start the phone every few days.

But overall I've been really happy with it. Fortunately I haven't had nearly the problems others have had with theirs.

I would like to get the Galaxy Nexus when it comes out though. I think it will be much much better.

i must say I like the charge, there are some problems with the phone, like the gps but over all I would say i am a fan, you want a lemon you should go look at the Droid Eris. I had one of those things, and it was depressing to use

Just got (another) charge yesterday (60 with accessories on craigslist so I couldn't pass) and im going back from my bionic. Battery life was and is my only gripe but it has been a good phone overall.

verizon brands the droid name on almost all their android phones, minus a select few.

it seems as though moto phones are becoming the real droid phones, while others are taking a backseat

its just the thunderbolt
not Droid Thunderbolt

moto has all the cards for it as well so who knows

individual phone manufacturers contract lucasarts for the droid name trademark. yep, georgy owns the word "droid". it has nothing to do with verizon.

i havent looked at this thread in a while, but it looks like i started a hate pit lol. i have went back to the good ole droid x and just biding my time until my one year upgrade prolly

I love my Droid X!!! I tried the Charge for a month and hated it. I never noticed how dull the X screen was until I used the Charge. But besides the screen and camera, the X dominates the Charge.

I'll be very honest, the Charge is my first and only Android phone. With the update to GB about a month ago (I did mine a few days before the OTA update)... MOST of the issues have went away for me with this phone.

With the vast knowledge shared on here, I have now rooted it but am still running the stock ROM... which allowed me to remove the VZW bloatware and left me in a stable environment. My next update to this thing will be to replace the slow 32GB microSD card that came with it with a faster one. I believe this will speed up the camera and some functions of the phone that use the card.

Overall I am pretty happy with the phone, it has its minor quirks sometimes but they are usually pretty minor. Even my switching between data network and wifi seems to be working better, which improves battery life during the day for me and keeps me connected.
