Does anyone else use WaveSecure?

Came across a nifty little app for the Hero called WaveSecure.

It lets you remotely access your phone and can be used to back up data, lock you phone, track its position and erase all the information on it ~ potentially quite handy as your Hero can store quite a lot of personal information.

It's still in beta, and as a result is completely free to download and use. It seems pretty cool and simple to use but I've never really heard anything about it before.

Does anyone else use it?

I installed it a couple of weeks ago. Good job. Sometiems it crashed and I had to force close, but maybe it was related to some other applications I had in my unit. After restarting it was OK.

@Wavesecure :)

Thank you sooo much for this excellent app! It is really appreciated and you guys Rock! I'm getting my brother {a nokia user} to use your service too though I know for Nokia it's not free but its really worth it!

Again , Thank you very much and keep up the good work!

No, I can not get it to send to me. It comes up in the top left corner that I received one (In Notifications), but when I check the text, there will be nothing there. I just Used a 3rd part text APP and here is what I get:

The Application Messages (process com.android.mms)has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again. Then I get an option to force close. arrrgggghhh.

can you send a text to yourself?

Carl - thanks for the lavish praise, can't say we deserve so much of it. We hope you enjoy using WaveSecure! Drop us a line any time at http://feedback.wavesecure.com to give us feedback :)

May the Phone be With You!

The way it works is that it verifies that you have entered the correct phone number by sending a text to the number you entered (i.e. your own phone). This text is intercepted by the app which is why you see the notification but cannot read it. The good news is that interception works :)

In this case it looks like there is something going wrong with the text that is intercepted. We have never tested on CDMA before so we're not sure what's going wrong. However, there are seem to be a lot of Hero users on Sprint and we'd like to support them :)

We'll discuss this issue internally and send you an email tomorrow about next steps. Apologies for the inconvience caused, we hope we can get you up and running soon!

Thanks, And look forward to using the APP.

I have a question for Wavesecure - does the app need to be running all the time or does it not matter if it is ended with a task killer?

I would Recommend adding it to your "App-Killer" Exclude list just to be safe anyway :)

Thanks - I realise I can do that, but whats the point if it doesn't need to be running, hence my question?

WaveSecure doesn't need to keep running unless you are actively doing something on your phone using WaveSecure (backing up your data, wiping etc). Needless to say, such operations will stop if you kill WaveSecure.

The phone will automatically start WaveSecure when a remote instruction is received from the server so you can keep it killed if you'd like.

That said, this is 'in theory' and we haven't tested this extensively so there is potential for screw ups and unhappy app behaviour. So we'd recommend that you let it run in the background, just to be safe.

Thanks - I'll keep it running then - doesn't use much memory anyway. Thanks for a great app!

Okey dokey, just tried a back-up from the website without WaveServe running on the Hero and it didn't work.

The first SMS message landed and just sat on the handset. When WS is running on the Hero it sends two messages, which then also automatically delete themselves.

So......if you've not got WS running on your mobile for any reason, you can't back-up!?!

However, from the very quick test I've just done, if you lock it from the site, the lock does work and this also makes WS start running on you handset, so a back-up would be possible.

Also, if the phone is lock and you press the "Forgotten Pin" option, it sends a text message to all the people in your "Buddy List"!?!

I really should leave some buttons alone ;)

The Mobile Defense site is here - https://www.mobiledefense.com/

However, from the download page -

"Important Notice: Mobile Defense is currently only available to Google Android users in the United States.
Email international@mobiledefense.com to be notified when Mobile Defense is available internationally.

Looks like it just won for the ADC2. I installed it today and I think it's a great app.

I am also looking forward to the Mobile Defense app too.

I'm trying to install Wavesecure on my Droid... anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Downloaded from Marketplace

Installed

(did not prompt for any setup process)

Now when I go to the icon it says "Unable to connect to server" "This may be a lost or stolen phone."

I can't find anything on their website to set up service for android phones. I feel so dumb. :(

A guy at work had this issue. Have you tried to delete it and reinstall?
