Does anyone feel that they are on old technology with the Rezound?

I had the ReZound and I know have the GNex. They both have their lil issues but they're both GREAT phones in their own way.

You pay a price in any tech when you decide to be the user/guinea pig of the new ways.

That being said.

Op in my opinion i think the ReZound is a great device. I in know way think it is old Tech. I'm not going to get into comparing what this phone has and what that phone doesn't. I just think they're both great phones in their own way.

So, what are the positives? It is my opinion that the only positive is ics. In doing research, that's the opinion i formed. I also formed the opinion that that positive just isn't worth it with the complaints I've read and heard. I just don't see anything else the gn does that the rezound doesn't do /do better. Also, I've had bad experiences with Samsung devices.
 
I don't have a Rezound, my good old DINC is still running strong. Whats stopping me is the battery life. If this phone would get the same battery as the new Motorola Razr maxx then it would be the perfect phone.
 
Nope, especially not when I'm looking at the Rezound's higher than iphone 4's resolution and higher Pixel Per Inch screen. That must be some new technology. Galaxy Nexus has the same resolution, but cheats by using subpixel sharing, so it's not really a true 720p screen. Subpixel sharing is old tech as in other pentile displays like the Nexus One and the Incredible.

Also, not very many phones have a 1.5Ghz dual core processor, so that must be new tech.

Hey sdsu, sorry if we came down a little hard on you. Honestly I don't want anybody to settle. Many of us love our Rezounds, and maybe you could too, but it's your money and you should do whatever will make you happy over the next 2yrs that you're committing to a phone.

We can all bicker about what's the best phone, and it is fun scoring points back and forth, but you're the only one who can decide what your priorities are. I liked the Nexus' SAMOLED screen a lot in the hour that I got to play with one, so if that's the feature that'll put a smile on your face, please don't let any of us talk you out of it! :)

Fair point, it can take a little tweaking to get decent battery life from the Rezound. The Rez' 2750 extended battery is a huge 70% jump over stock, but it's still 17% less than the Razr Maxx and does make the Rez even thicker. I would never have considered owning the original Razr, but the Maxx is nice!

LOL, well actually the Rezound's Snapdragon S3 is based on a revision of the older ARM A8 architecture, so it has about the same CPU power as a newer 1.2GHz A9 type chip as in the Nexus or Razr. Nobody really wins that one. ;)
 
I think I'm settling on the Rezound for now and possibly at least for the next 6 months until Amazon's 180 day discount policy is fulfilled. After 6 months if I see that the Nexus has it's problems fixed, I may jump ship if I can find a way to trade or sell the Rezound and get the Nexus for a good price. Or I may end up just keeping this phone for a year until my upgrade. I just need to be content with whatever I have.
 
With the way phones are coming out now, No matter what phone you get, it will pretty much be outdated in 6months. If you jump from the Rezound in 6months back to the Nexus, then you will be on outdated equipment, because there will be better out at that time. JMO.

When the Incredible 1 came out, it was the first with 1gHz processor and most phones after that had a 1gHz as well. Other than everyone going to a 4.3" screen, that phone stayed up-to-date for nearly a year.

Don't fret, I remember back when the Mustang abandoned its 5.0 pushrod for an OHV engine (4.6) and the Camaro stuck with its pushrod technology. The "newer" Mustang mill managed only about 265 HP while the Camaro was topping 300-320 HP (both naturally aspirated). The Ford faithful claimed their newer tech would eventually get there but they still lost the HP wars for quite awhile. I think the new 5.0 that came out just 2 years ago is finally catching up to GM's "old tech".

Well....did you know that the ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5870 is actually faster than the HD 6870, even though the 6870 is of a newer generation as signified by the leading digit 6 in the model number. Although the newer 6870 has a higher core clock of 900MHz vs. 850Mhz of the older 5870, is slower overall due to having less stream processors (1100 vs. 1600). The older 5870 has a higher number of transistors as well, 2.1 billion vs. 1.7 billion. Both video cards use the same 40nm process so the newer 6870 is actually using older technology.

Also, the Rezound is awesome. Let's stay on topic people. ;)
 
I got one. Did you know that the omap 4460 chip in the GNex was created just about a year earlier than the omap 4430 chip in the Bionic and Razr.:D

Yes, the 1.2GHz 4430/4460 as in the Razr/Nexus have about the same integer processing power as the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3 in the Rezound. I don't know how their graphics units compare.

What I understood when I looked at the comparison charts was the 1.5ghz s3 was just ahead of the ti omap 4460 at 1.2ghz? Its been awhile since I saw the charts. Either way they both have their advantages. Put either one in my phones and I'm happy. I do prefer the adreno gpu though.
 
Actually I have to agree with all the people who hate the Rezound. If you like to tinker with something to make it work this is not the phone for you. If you need to feel good because there is a fix for major issues just around the corner, this is not the phone for you (there are no major issues).

Every day, day in and day out, it just freak-en works. Its fast, reliable, stable, great battery life, great ergonomics, awesome screen, it has great root ROMs. Don't you just hate that!
 
I had so many problems with the nexus hardware wise. I will never buy another samsung phone ever. Samsung just makes cheap ass phones.

The rezound just feels solid and everything on the rezound works better than my incredible.

It's pretty sad that my incredible has a better speaker, camera, and display than the galaxy nexus.

I'm sure if google had motorola or HTC make their next nexus it would have been awesome but no they went with samsung who makes lousy phones.

I agree, you would think that Google would have wanted to have their premiere operating system on a really solid piece of hardware.

Really this phone is the best communication technology I have used and it continues to surprise me in a very positive way. I have had several friends who were hard core iphone users switch to the rezound after doing a side to side comparison. I didn't even mention it they just saw me using it and asked what it was after looking at the screen.
