Does anyone here not have trouble with their s3?

For a period of a week or so, I was having some various issues with the phone. At times apps would not respond. One time, none of my weather apps would be able to pick up my current location (although Google Maps works fine). It shut down on my automatically once. Then I decided to reboot the phone and none of these issues have recurred. It's been fine for almost 2 weeks now.

One outstanding issue I still have is that I am unable to change the default ring tone for the S Calendar app. Every time I change it, it would change back to the default. I started a thread on this and so far, no one offered any solution while one other person had the same experience.

No troubles at all on my SGS3 32gb, been quite happy with it. I havent had the battery die yet, only 1 app crash (free game) and the rest has been flawless so far.

Another easy way of syncing files to the S3 from any computer is to use Airdroid. It's an app on GPlay. Since a coworker of mine recommended it to me, I haven't stopped using it. I've noticed other people around the forums recommending it, too.

if i could figure out how to get sound and vibrate to work at the same time the phone would be perfect for what i need it for. calls and text. thing only gives 1 weak vibration, im missing text messages with this thing

Odd. I was testing mine out just now and it was vibrating and ringing at the same time. The vibration was not weak either. Only complaint is that it gives just one ring and one vibrate - both at the same time though

Little problems here and there, camera will freeze after recording a video is the biggest annoyance for me especially because the video I recorded gets deleted. Some lag on some apps, but I had some issues on my 32g 4S and I'm happy I switched.

Just got my S3 from AT&T yesterday.

Battery life is atrocious compared to the iPhone I switched from.

Definitely have to get a second battery or look to see if there is a high capacity one available.

Another problem is the predicted text. It wouldn't let me spell Samsung or Galaxy when I was chatting with a friend. I had to turn the predicted text off which made it harder to type correctly.

Just some initial negatives, though by no means do I dislike the phone.

I strongly suggest to ask around in your city/state before deciding on AT&T vs. Verizon. AT&T is horrible in Massachusetts, NYC (Verizon is by far the best in the N.E.) but AT&T seems to work a little bit better in Florida (V was still OK though). I'd go with Verizon, but in any case ask about the 7 day return policy in case your phone doesn't work well wherever you go. S3 is best phone ever made too --

Now that I have rooted and flashed a Rom, having no problems at all. Before was having sound problems with the phone.

I was just wondering something. If so many people root their device and it works soooo much better, how come these darn manufacturers can't do a better job with the stock Rom? I mean come on!

The Galaxy S3 is a great phone, but my personal opinion is that it is far from as polished and seamless as the ads and demos would like you to think. I have had issues with a lot of the features that Samsung touts. For example:

  • Driving mode is pretty much useless (doesn't read out text messages, doesn't allow voice activated dialing)
  • S Voice doesn't work well (doesn't work over bluetooth, the setting to only listen when charging doesn't work, rarely gets commands right)
  • Can't play videos on my TV over wireless (TV doesn't appear as a sharing option)
  • Voice dialing doesn't work (I used to use Vlingo InCar, but Vlingo apparently doesn't work on ICS devices)
  • You can't move apps to the SD Card
For comparison, on my Galaxy S I used to be able to get in my car, connect via Bluetooth, and start Vlingo InCar. After that, all incoming text messages would be read out over the speaker. I could also send messages and place calls by just saying "Hey Vlingo" and then the command like "Call John at work". I can't do that with the Galaxy S3.

I still love the phone, but I really wish those features would work better since I use them a lot.

It's still better than an iPhone though for a plethora of other reasons :)

for tts/text to talk, you have to go into your settings and turn it on/enable for apps,
for s voice with Bluetooth, i haven't had a problem using an really old jawbone set at the moment,
the all-share deal is restricted to Samsung TV's with Bluetooth/WiFi built in or you need the pin adapter and a micro hdmi cable.
i haven't used vlingo, just s voice.
apps to sd is possible with root, then you can make the directory yourself for future apps so Ive been told

Apart from the odd browser crash which should get fixed in the next update and copy & paste issue but again it should get fixed soon. other than those two I Have no problems with my S3. It's perfect for everything I need it for if I'm honest.

My only issue has been my phone would fc while in fb. Found the problem was that I didn't update an app in my notifications (it was a Verizon app) went ahead and updated it. No more FC. Great phone.
