Does anyone know how to extend life on the stock battery

Ever since the jellybean update came out my battery will die within 4 hours no joke. This is a serious problem to me, so if could help me out with this issue that would be cool. Thanks.

It's important to figure out what's causing the battery drain before you can decide what course of action to take.

I'd install Wakelock Detector first; it will show you what apps are keeping your device awake and most likely draining battery. Next; Watchdog Task Manager Lite will warn you if apps are using excessive cpu, any misbehaving apps causing high cpu cycles can cause rapid battery drain. Better Battery stats is another very thorough program that will show you what programs are eating battery, but it's $2.89 in the play store.

Once you figure out what apps are the biggest battery drain, you can uninstall them, or if you can't live without them; use greenify to force them to hibernate when the device sleeps. Greenify does require root to work.

Another possibility is that the radio is working too hard, causing rapid battery loss. If you have a very poor signal, the radio will use more and more power to try and boost its reception. If your phone gets hot around the camera, that can be a sign of either the radio or cpu working excessively. Turn off data whenever you're not using it and see if that increases your battery life. GPS and WiFi are also good candidates to turn off when not in use.

If it is the radio, you can try flashing a different modem or prl to improve reception and reduce power consumption.

Under-clocking the cpu can help, but how much depends on how often your cpu is at the higher speeds. If your kernel supports under-volting, that's even better.
