After reading so many negative comments about the Optimus S on Sprint's website, I have to wonder if I am one of the only ones that are in love with this phone?

I love that it is fast, user friendly and does everything I need it to do. It downloads apps fast and has great call quality. I do not have rebooting or freezing issues. I learned how to manage battery life where it will last me the whole day and also learned how to manage the limited internal memory the phone has by putting all apps that allow me to, on the SD card.

Just curious if others share my enthusiasm?! :)

Me me me! And I’ve even had problems with mine -- the first two were replaced by refurbs but the most recent works poifek (knock on wood). And compared to my previous Samsung 1500 (conestoga smartphone of 2002), it’s like entering a time machine. I’m sure there are faster droids with bigger screens, but I bet they weren’t free, like my Opti!
 
It is a great little phone. Dirt cheap, great in hand feel (I like the physical buttons), good battery life and surprisingly snappy given it's modest specs.

It's also really handy to have developers who are supporting the phone... giving us root and custom roms. This allows me to work around the one complaint I have about the phone... the limited amount of storage space for installing apps.

I'll probably upgrade later this year to a larger screened, dual core phone but for now this is a great option.
 
My wife refused to change phones because there wasn't one as small as her Reclaim (which she STILL thought was too big). I convinced her to move to an Android phone BUT the only one that was good enough size was the Intercept. And she "HAD" to have a physical keyboard.

We found a 3rd party retailer that was offering the Intercept for free, so we got that. I rooted it, removed all the crap and I thought it was pretty decent (especially compared to my HTC TouchPro2 with a bootleg Android rom of sorts on it). But as the month went on, it wouldn't respond, freeze, restart all the time and I knew that phone wasn't going to fly with her much longer. So I showed her the Optimus S, which is the phone I initially wanted her to get but she didn't even give it a 2nd look because it didn't have a physical keyboard. But when she had her Intercept, 95% of the time she would type with the onscreen keyboard. I was able to convince her to go to an all-touch phone. We returned the phone to the 3rd party retailer under Sprint's 30-day guarantee thingy and had her upgrade eligibility reset on the spot. No hassle at all, thankfully!

We looked around and Sprint Store was offering it for $20 (after $50 MIR) but we decided to go look at Best Buy (the devil) and oh look, they were offering it for FREE! So we got it from Best buy. And WOW, the difference between the Optimus S and the Samsung Intercept is night and day! I really do like her phone. Definitely love it over my phone! The Optimus S is super responsive, quick to download, quick to install, quick and smooth all around. And when its on our Wifi, it just zoooooooms! The screen looks so much better than the Intercept as well. Even compared to my Daughter's Samsung Transform, this phone is so zippy!

Luckily, come August 1st, I get to finally get a new fancy phone too: Evo 3D!
 
Yes! Before I got the Optimus S about a week ago, I thought I wouldn't like it. I expected it to be slow (or, slower than the newer phones that are coming out) but was I wrong! This thing is pretty fast for its specs. I do have a few small things I don't like about this phone, but hey, it was CHEAP! Best $35 I've ever spent in my entire life.

This is true, there is a major lack of internal memory on this phone. I have been fortunate to be able to put a lot of my apps on the SD card so far. I just think this phone is so zippy and it has been so easy to learn the ins and outs of Android. I seriously love this phone!
