Does anyone pay for apps?

I have downloaded close to 30 apps and they are all pretty good to great.
Now I feel like "why should I pay for an app?"

Are there any must-have pay apps?

I paid for Golf Card. I wouldn't say it's a must have, but I like it and it is very cheap compared to comparable programs.
 
The best model to me is when they have free and paid versions. Once I have used an app for long enough, just about anything better about it would be worth a few dollars.
 
Value is in the eye of the beholder but this is what I've bought:

 WeatherBug Elite
FeedR News Reader

I will probably subscribe to Whitepages app at some point. So far I think I've spent $5.

If someone wants to spend there free time developing apps in there free time, I think that's great. I don't expect it though and am always willing to pay for a quality app. Most people don't like working for free and expect something in return and I don't blame them.

On the other hand, I have seen a lot of crap apps that people put out just trying to make quick money, but luckily you have 24 hours to refund.

So far I have bought

Bloo - When I had my G1, there was no native FB app and even when it did finally come out, Bloo had much more functionality.

Power Manager - Essential app for the G1, but with the Droid I haven't needed it and actually uninstalled.

Weather Widgets Donate - I love the look of the Hero clock with integrated weather.

Advanced Task Manager - Another essential app for the G1 because some programs seemed to really bog it down, haven't needed it once for the Droid.

Nursing Central -at $150 most people have no use for it, but for me essential if you are a Nurse ;)
 
I felt WeatherBug Elite was worth the $2.

One thing to keep in mind: if current Android user base shows willingness to pay for quality apps, it will attract pro app writers to the platform - which would mean AppMarket would have a lot more well-written, useful apps, and the platform appeal would go up, attracting more users, and thus meaning more potential revenue for the app writers: a self-feeding circle.
 
I was curious about paid apps. If you have to replace your device, can you still download/use those apps or do you have to pay for a new one? On my BlackBerry the registration information for the paid version was tied to the PIN on that individual device so it wouldn't transfer (some programmers would reissue though).

How does that work for anyone that has done this?
 
I've paid for:


Note Everything Pro - Head and shoulders above any other note/list app. This thing is really amazing. Folders, text/voice/drawing/photo/gallery/list/recurringlist notes. Very nice app. It replaces AK Notes and OI Shopping list for me, and then some.


Electrum Drum Machine - "Fruity Loops" Lite on your phone. Drum/Sample sequencer. For the musicians out there.
 
In the Market, in the Verizon tab...

today's the last day for half-price (15 bucks) on Documents to Go (regularly 30).

If you want to edit or create excel/word/ppt, it's the best Droid way to go.

I have purchased a few...

Pure Calendar... All the free options didn't work right and the stock widget is too simple. Pure calendar is great and the developer is very easy to work with when you have a problem.

Beautiful Widgets... I tried all the other clocks and toggle switched and I was unimpressed. This one is by far the best and cleanest looking widgets. Plus it saved space having the clock and weather in one widget.

Pic Say Pro... By far the best photo editor on the android platform. Good for tweaking pictures quickly before uploading to your favorite sites.


That is it so far, but I don't mind spending a few bucks for quality and support.

Interesting. Never heard/seen this one.
Default calendar widget is too bland.
 
Honestly, you can get a handful of apps cheaper than you can get a fast food combo meal. And most apps I've paid for have been very high quality and constantly updating. Some of the apps I've paid for:

Beautiful Widgets
Documents To Go
Pure Calendar
Nesoid (I may get around to buying Snesoid as well)

I'm hesitant on Better Keyboard, I've read it doesn't learn your commonly typed words like the default keyboard does (and I can't get the HTC keyboard to work)

I'll get Scan2PDF when they improve the quality to make better use of this 5 MP camera

I'll be getting NBA League Pass if they can get it updated for the Droid before the All-star break. After that and it's just too much money to spend on half a season :/

I'd buy this if they're going to support OpenDocument formats in the near future, but I haven't seen anything like that coming.

Have you seen this app in use before? From what I read from the reviews in the Apple appstore, it really sucks. Like people can't use it over 3G, on wifi it only streams for a minute and cuts out.

Don't know if these problems exist for Android or not. If it works, I think it's worth the price ($40)

Anyways, these are the apps I've purchased:

GDE - Replacement home app
Beautiful Widgets - Hero type widgets
Album Art Grabber - So useful in making your library colorful, heh.

I really like the fact that there's a 24 hour trial period. It really makes price tags seem less intimidating.

as long as on the new device you sign in with your google account the paid apps will show up as purchased in the downloads of the market and you will be able to re-download them.. you can also uninstall an app in settings and it will still be there for you in the market unless u uninstall though the market while you can still get a refund. The cool thing I've found so far on the droid is if you wipe the phone and reset it to factory when you sign in not only are your apps you had installed in your downloads it even downloads and installs them for you before you even if you don't open the market.. thats the paid and free apps.. you still loose custom settings in the apps unless the app saves them on the sd card but its a huge time saver when you wipe.. I hope that still functions properly when we get root and start getting custom roms..
 
hell yeah I pay... up to a point

Tasker, Mybackup Pro, SetCPU, ROM Manager, WeatherBug Elite, Root Explorer and a few others. But I admit I pick and choose wisely and often go for the "free" option of an app or a similar app if available. But some just have to be paid for as no other equal option exists.
