Help Does CM7 have issues stock had?

I haven't updated my G2x to gingerbread yet (since there's no root method yet) and am thinking about flashing a Cyanogenmod 7 RC, but am wondering if CM7 has resolved the reboot and battery/overheating issues that the official gingerbread update has seemed to resolve. Input appreciated. Thanks.
 
If you check out xda I think that they did find out how to root just as easy as before, and they even figured out how to put the stock lg camera on the gingerbread rom
