Root does everything work on GV 1.4 ?

Doesn't seem to have fixed that, anyone got any ideas? I was driving across Manchester earlier using Google Navigation and it didn't pick any GPS satellites at all.
 
I tried GPStest earlier and it didn't find anything, although I was indoors, but it usually doesn't have a problem anyway. For a data wipe do you mean a full device wipe?

OK im going to assume you did. If so, sounds like its the wrong version. The framework-res.apk and the systemUI.apk contain all the icons. When you flash any themed mod, it replaces this. However from version to version, these change so mods need to be updated for each version or the wrong things end up in the wrong place.

To fix, flash original framework via villain setup or flash the rom with no mod.

If this isnt the cause, no idea, mines fine.
 
ok just running a backup now! I don't get a great signal indoors or anything but if I'm planning a route before I leave then it never usually has a problem.

No. You can only flash the 1.4 version on 1.4. You now need a 1.5 version for 1.5.

As I said earlier, it replaces the framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk which contains the icons, but the layouts change every version of the rom, so you need it to be ported every time before you can flash it.
 
Yeah, I just checked that in villain setup and saw there was a 1.5 version. So just installed that one. Works fine now. Cheers SUroot, I'm slowly getting clued up. :P
 
this is teh shit with flashable themes. Sometimes bootloop and you have to wait for someone to port it before you can use it. Annoying. Thats why I like theme chooser.
 
Just tried the gps and it doesn't work at all! Even the icon doesn't shoe up to say its searching. Anyone else got same thing?

EDIT, just did a reboot and it works now. Bit of a strange one, but I predict it will be sorted by the next update.
 
Ok, so if you reboot it works but ad soon as you disable gps it won't come back on, so if you want gps you will have to reboot to get it to work everytime. :-(
 
GPS still not working on mine. I did a full factory reset from the recovery menu and also re-applied the 1.5 update zip but no luck. GPS just doesn't seem to be working at all, might try another ROM I think until gingervillain has a couple of new updates because I do use navigation quite a lot.
 
I've just rebooted and left gps on. As you say I suppose unless I'm using an app that requires gps it won't get used, so ill just leave it like that and await an update, I've message Richard Trip and told him so I'm sure he will sort it soon.

Yes do that to see if it makes anything better. It may not be gv related. Did you.say you'd tried other radios? What radio are you on now?
 
I've only ever flashed the gingervillain custom rom I've never done anything with my radio as far as i'm aware. My current version is:

32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27

Hmmm... I've just flashed the GV 1.5 ROM, the Eviollet GB kernel, and my RIL all at once. I cleared the dalvik cache and did a full factory wipe first. When the phone rebooted the setup was ok but the screen kept flashing and acting all odd. I've now rebooted and the phone's been stuck on the boot screen (VillainRom) for the last 10 minutes. Is it just rebuilding the cache, or have I fritzed it?
 
just pulled the battery and rebooted. Got the Joker S-Off screen, then the VillainRom boot screen..... And still the Villain Rom boot screen! I can feel a Nandroid restore coming on. :(
 
Bugger it. Just running recovery. Given the reports of GPS not working on GV 1.5 it's probably no bad thing. If anyone can shed any light on what went wrong there it'd be much appreciated.
 
Just wondering if I should have flashed the ROM, then set it up, then flashed the kernel, then rebooted, then flashed the RIL, then rebooted. Y'know, do everything in stages...?
