Help does hard reset affect SD Card?

I did a hard reset with my sd card in the phone on my htc rezound
It seemed to clear almost all data folders except photos/videos

Is this supposed to happen?

I think what happened was the app folders recreated when I downloaded the apps again

normally a hard reset doesn't affect the sd card.

as a rule of thumb it is always a good idea to do a backup of your sd card to your pc before doing a reset.

Like Trophy said... always back up! Also, what I always do is remove my SD card if I'm doing a hard reset... There is no reason for it to be in there and you know it will be safe!
