Does it have a GPS

Hey does anybody know how to get to the GPS and use the GPS? Does anybody have a guide? I'm trying to travel about 50 miles away from home and I would like to test out the Hero's GPS to bring me there if that's possible.

There is a huge difference between GPS and sat nav
GPS is the ability to use satellites to obtain your exact position. Sat Nav is using this ability to plot where you are and have software calculate how to get somewhere else from that location.

The Hero has GPS built in and can be turned on or off from the setting menu.
It does not have sat nav and you would need to download an app from the market.

are you referring to GPS navigation? if so you need to download an app from the market (there are a few). Otherwise you can simply use google maps, activate the GPS and then click on get directions.

Problem is I don't have Market because I have the Malaysian version of the HTC Hero. (Bad choice)

There have been a couple of interesting threads about what sat nav apps are available for Android recently. At the risk of resurrecting old threads, you might want to take a look at them, linked below. These apps are all available from the websites of the publishers, so you won't need to worry about Android Market.
