Does Juice Defender Ultimate work??

Hey guys,
My question is about juice defender ultimate. I have a rooted Galaxy S2. I am running the SuperNexus Rom (Zero Bloatware) with Dorimanx 7.4 kernel on battery profile. I like receiving push notifications from gmail and twitter instantly. Is there any way juice defender will increase my battery life further without hampering push notifications?? Kindly advise..

I just purchased JD Ultimate for my Galaxy Nexus (gsm) and also wish to know if it will improve battery life. In my case I only need to see text messages and would even tolerate putting them on a schedule at 30 minute intervals.

IMHO, I would not dream of using Juice Defender on a rooted phone as it can use more battery and cause more problems than it cures. In fact, Juice Defender, masks the battery drain and does not cure it.

For details of ways to configure your phone for battery saving, see the thread:-

Thanks. I've not convinced myself one way or the other. Here are the results from last night:
Test 11/3-11/4
--------------
Stop: 0449: 98%
Start: 2202: 100%
Result: 2% / (6h + 47m) = 2 / 6.783 = 0.29 %/h
This is significantly better than I've seen with JD disabled. In all cases, I start from a fully charged battery with screen off and unplugged. I understand that I could do these things manually, but knowing myself I would forget more often than not. The first attachment shows my GSam results and the second attachment shows the JD settings. I'm also using Watchdog, BetterBatteryStats and Battery Mix to monitor things. They all give consistent results. BTW, your link looks great; I'll study it in greater detail later. This quote from post #3 say it all:
juice defender app. works for some, not others. works for me :)

This link is also interesting:Pete

Ironass, your battery drain is truly impressive... Do you keep mobile data on at all times? I have already implemented most of the tips from Battery Saving Guide, but i am nowhere close to your stats. So, do you keep mobile data on at all times??
Thanks for replying ..

Mobile data and Wi-Fi on 24/7 and Dorimanzx kernel on extreme_battery profile.

Thanks a ton. I am on Resurrection Remix Rom now with Dori 7.8.But I was on Battery profile. Will change that to extreme battery and check in tomorrow.. :)

Just changing kernel and profile may improve your battery a touch but more likely for a bigger result is to analyse your system as to what is using your battery in the first place. Install betterbatterystats and analyse your wakelocks, both partial and kernel

Never a truer word spoken old stick.

I'm afraid there is no quick fix or easy method to get the best battery life.

Both of you are right of course.. I already have betterbatterystats installed, but i cant make head or tail out of it.. I will use my S2 till the end of the day today and then I will post screenshots. Hoping you guys can help me out. By the way,I am flashing the new Resurrection remix 3.1.2 JB.. Cant keep my hands off flashing.. You guys put me up to this.. Ironass, I am looking at you.. :D There I was with a new S2 and you had to hold a gun to my head and get me to root it :D :D .. Now please tell me how to rein myself in and stop flashing rom after rom :) (Seriously...)

Not a lot of point in posting loads of screenshots as monitoring BBS needs to be done on a daily basis over a period of time. These threads and guides will help explain it for you.

BetterBatteryStats xda thread

How to prevent & handle wakelocks & save battery life

(Requires a lot of reading and months of trial and error ;) )

You can't blame me... I've been on NEAT ROM for about 4 months now, as I find it to be the best for me in terms of speed, usability and battery life. ;)

Wasnt blaming you mate... Just kidding... but i do want to tell you that i am extremely grateful to you for your numerous guides for dummies which helped me get the most out of my phone. :) I took a page out of your book and restored my s2 to supernexus rom JB which is the lightest rom i have found (125 MB, zero bloatware).. Am I correct in assuming that file size of a rom is a fair indication of how much bloat its likely to have??

Another question i have that i am a twitter user and i have installed both the official twitter app and plume. Both are unreliable in notifying me of new tweets.. What i want to ask is which is the best app for twitter, as far as notifications are concerned? Is it tweetcaster? Am looking for timely notifications (push). I know this is beyond the scope of this thread (sorry), but i didnt want to start another thread for it. So, all you pros out there, Ironass, Hawker, et al... Please help... Cant thank you guys enough...

Sort of. By that I mean that I am using the NEAT ROM, Full version as opposed to the Lite as I use some of the features, such as phone tracking, that are contained in the Full version. I do, however, disable any other bloatware that I do not need... as per post #2, here.

Can't really help you there I'm afraid as I'm not an avid Twitter user. In fact, I have the Samsung Social Hub and its ancillary app's frozen. I do have a stand alone Twitter app and IMO, just in case, that I can sign in and out of, as and when I need it as these sort of features will suck your battery dry by constantly waking your phone up... as you will see from BetterBatteryStats.

Seeing how this thread is revolving around the use of root, ROMs, and custom kernels, I've moved the thread to the All Things Root forum. I left a 3 day re-direct for those who are still looking for it in the non-root section.

Thanks all!
