Help does lookout mobile security use much battery?

Hi I've got lookout mobile security installed but I'm trying to find ways to extend my battery life. I've already got rid of my app killer, go easy on auto-updating, have the screen brightness low etc but still the life isn't great. Anyone know if uninstalling lookout will make a difference

It would make very little difference. It's mainly active after you've installed an app and when its scheduled to check for viruses and malware etc. Having such an app is highly recommended.

What kind of battery life (in terms of hours) are you hoping to achieve and under what kind of usage?

hi thanks for your reply, I use it a hell of a lot if I'm honest, usually for facebook, kindle and surfing the web, playing poker etc. I charge it overnight, but I keep having to top it up with small recharges throughout the day when the battery gets below about 60%. It could be completely normal, but my last phone was a sony ericsson x10 mini pro and the battery on that lasted a lot longer and charged up much faster than my new HTC.

If you're using it as much as that, then it's not going to last you a full day. The biggest drain on the battery is the screen, usually followed by wifi (if you use the internet a fair bit), then the phone itself (depending how much you use it for calls, etc)

Menu > Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery use. You can click each item to see more detail and sometimes change settings to save power.

There are also things you can try to make sure your battery is running optimally, like the advice in this first post and the tips in this list.

Ultimately, it's a smart phone with a powerful processor and large display that will eat any battery if used for long periods. (It has almost twice the spec of the Xperia X10.)
