I want to ask does mobile data use more battery in these two situations?

1) At home when you have WiFi on and Mobile Data is not in use but still on

2) When it's on but your screen is locked/off

Yes, mobile data consumes battery whenever it's on. That's how various battery power savings apps (like JuiceDefender) save power by turning off mobile data when a phone is connected to wifi or in the deep sleep mode.

I think he asked if mobile data consumes more power than data use over Wifi.

Mobile data definitely consumes more power. The transmission power of the wifi antenna is much lower than that of the cellular antenna.

while connected to wifi, mobile data is disconnected.
while away from wifi, mobile data will use power with screen off.
hope that answers lol.
at home, i think wifi will use less battery than 3g/4g but im not sure :)

Like funky said, it wont use any battery as its disconnected if you're on wifi. Only your voice service will connect.
