Root Does root remain when using other SD cards?

So I was able to gain root using my old 1 gb SD card. But I want to use my main 2 gb card (which I cant get root on even though I tried).

Can I just switch cards now that i'm rooted and gave SU permissions?

The reason I ask is that after switching cards, I opened up Wireless tether and turned it on. My laptop saw the network but wouldnt connect (even though it had earlier using the original root SD card).

So do I only have root with the original SD card?

Or is it that I need the folder for wireless tether that was on the old SD card. If so, how can I get the folder to the new card.

thanks!

EDIT: I was able to figure out the answer... Root DOES remain. I just needed the folder 'android.tether' on my new SD card and wala, I'm back on wireless tether using the new SD card. This was posted using it hehe :)

Also, the folder was found in the tools folder of the Simple Incredible Root from the youtube video about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVHj6J2uCKo&feature=player_embedded

So you have wireless teather working with root? What app are you using for it? Might have to root. I really want WiFi teather. Was planning on waiting till things were simplified a little, but might not be able to hold out.

You still will have root as long as you went through the steps to make it stick, however, to use wifi tether with the new sd card you will need to move the android.tether folder over to the new sd card. It has a important .bin file that the wifi thether app needs.

Doh! Didn't see the edit. Glad to see you figured it out. :)

Yup thanks for the help anyways!

And yes, wireless tether is working flawlessly. It's actually very simple. The most complicated thing about the steps is getting your drivers for the phone working. That is the HTC sync program install thing in the video. I actually didnt even install it. Just got the driver for my phone and installed that. It's pretty simple once that is done. Just follow the steps in the video. If you get to the part where you need the directory failed message to come up and it never works, try a different SD card. The stock card that came with the phone would never get it, but my older card gets it on the first try every time.
