Does rooting increasing connectivity?

Bear with me, im trying to learn as much as i can about rooting, but i havent found much if anything regarding the "radio" that is used by the phone for signal and connectivity. ( which is one of the reasons i started investigating rooting)
I came across one post on another forum that said that one can actually change the "radio" used by Tmobile that will work better (usually by rooting with a ROM that has a different one).

Can anyone clarify as to the truth in that?

Rooting does not increase radio signal or mobile data signal.

Installing a different rom can increase or decrease both radio signal and mobile signal depending on what tweaks aka scripts were added to the rom.

Yep I totally agree here usually with custom roms however you run that of decreasing your connectivity substantially primarily because custom written drivers.
