Does Swype affect battery life

GripnRip

Newbie
I noticed a few days ago Friday that my battery all of a sudden started draining faster; a lot faster. I did a FDR Tuesday night and through most of the day Thursday it was much better. Thursday evening i started reinstalling apps to test if it was actually better and noticed as soon as i did that the phone was never sleeping again. My up time and awake time were almost the same as soon as i reinstalled everything. So last night I uninstalled everything again except for swype. I'm going to watch it today but I'm not sure what to expect. Have you seen swype affect your battery life.

FYI the apps I uninstalled

IMDB
Mint
Yelp
Nesoid Lite
Epicurious
Big Oven
Spades
Pandora
DirecTV

P.S. At the point I noticed my battery being affected, i hadn't even used half of these apps. All I had done was log into my account on Pandora and quit the program, log into yelp. That's it. After that my phone sat idle for 2-3 hours (screen off) but affording to the battery monitor it was awake and running the whole time. "Android System" was my main battery user.

Yes its a killer. I used it for 3 or 4 days and my battery life suffered greatly. Its an amazing tool and hopefully they will tweak it once its no longer a beta product.

I regularly have mid-heavy use charges last me 18-20 hours using swype. I don't think it has any effect on battery life.

Ok, so far with just Livestrong, Weather Channel, Fring, and Swype my battery seems to be doing much better. Has anyone had issues with the apps i listed in the OP?

Only app i have in common with the OP is Pandora, which does kill my battery if ran constantly. I can't speak for the other apps though
