Make sure that your WiFi is turned off on your handset when testing your tether connection. Otherwise, the phone will simply relay its wifi connection to your computer, not a 3g cellular data connection.
When I try to tether using the "out of the box" instructions, I only get a connection if my phone is connected to WiFi. When I turn the WiFi off, i get:
"Error Code 67. Registration Failure. Press [OK] for options. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect. Please try again."
I think this has something to do with Sprint blocking tethering. Still looking for a non-PDAnet workaround. Let me know if you find anything.

) troubleshooting this issue. They took me to the top tier CS who told me that it is the major known issue that they know of. HTC and Sprint are definitely aware of it and they expect it to be fixed in the next update.
