Does the Android browser break accessibility rules?

When viewing mobile websites, eg.

You lose the ability to zoom in. Just like ie6, where you cannot zoom in on websites designed around pixels.

This is really bad for me, and I presume others who have poor eyesight.

android web browser is a full standard complient browser not simply a mobile browser.

I skip the mobile browser on most sites since my phone can handle the full sites.

I can zoom in on mobile sites from my hero, which i was very surprised. I think the default is that you wouldn't be able to zoom in, tested some sites on my mates iPhone for instance and he couldnt zoom, where i could.

This isn't an issue with the Android web browser, it's an issue with the web pages themselves. Developers can specify a meta tag that tells the browser "fill the view port" -- <meta name="viewport" content="width=320; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;"> The browser is doing what the site is telling it to. Unfortunately, you can see they aren't doing full device detection because they are setting the width to 320 (rather than the device's specific width--no doubt due to the iPhone's resolution and popularity).

You might find Welcome to Facebook | Facebook a little better though.

If you do frequently have problems reading smaller text in the browser, you can increase the default font size in settings.
