Does the Droid X charge while off?

When the Droid X has been powered off, and you plug it in, does it charge?

No indicators come on to indicate charging, but I am not sure if it is doing it in the background.

My Droid ran out of batteries, and I plugged it in. The screen came on showing the Motorola "M" and then powered off. I am not sure if I need to turn it on or not.

yes it does.

If you press the power button (Not hold) the indicator will show on-screen telling you it's progress.
