Does the HTC Mail application store "Data" on internal storage ?

Hi all,

I am running out of internal phone space and I had a lot of emails in my inbox which I deleted, but this didn't get the space back. One possible reason is that by default my mail storage is on external storage (32b) and I'm fine for space on there.

However, my HTC Mail Data is taking up 25mb+. If I delete this I suspect I will need to set up my mail account and preferences again, not a huge deal. But, I wondered if this Data is stored on Internal or External storage, and if I delete the data, will I get all or some of the internal space back ?.

I can understand External storage being used for mail attachments, etc. but wasn't sure whether changing the storage option in the app affected "Data" per se.

Has anyone tried this please ?

Yes its on the /data partition (aka internal storage)

You have to delete the emails from "trash" as they still take up space.

If you clear data, you'll lose all your settings too. When you set it back up, it will sync and take up space again

Brilliant, thanks SU

I guess I'm just so used to seeing a hierarchical folder tree in Windows - I clean forgot about the Trash folder, lol. How embarrassing!!.

The Data size is now going down and Internal memory is now coming up again :-)

It would seem like my hunch about external storage might be right then?.

I bet lots of people have a whole bunch of Internal storage caught up in their mail *Data*.

If anyone else is reading, there's a great app called aCCleaner which gives you a very useful listing of Cache, Data, Code, and Total size for your apps.

Thanks again :)
