I bought a MetroPCS Ascend two weeks ago and it has been giving me trouble since Day 1. I immediately knew something was wrong when I called my voicemail and I got some guy's voicemail. I've also had problems accessing the internet, the internet turning off for no reason, not receiving texts, texts not being delivered, extremely s--l--o--w response time, among other things.
When I looked at the Device Info and Status in Settings I noticed that the MDN, MIN and My Phone Number were all incorrect. They were not my phone number. I called the number that showed up and got the same guy's voicemail that I mentioned above! I took the phone back to the MetroPCS store last weekend and the kid changed the MDN and "my phone number" to the correct number, but he did not change the MIN. He said it didn't need to be changed. He said the number listed as the MIN was correct. I don't know anything about MDNs and MINs, so I took his word for it. I did some research about MINs and his answer just doesn't make sense to me.
I'm still experiencing the same problems. Could it be the MIN or does my phone just suck? At this rate, I am so frustrated that I'm ready to toss my phone in the trash and go back to my old un-smart phone.
I've looked around this forum and read about removing the Metro crapware, which I understand is likely slowing down my phone. Unfortunately, I'm not able to stay on the internet long enough to download anything to remove it. I'll try to do it via my laptop and USB. But, first, I'd appreciate any input on the MIN issue.
Thanks for your help!
