Does the N4 have auto focus for video?

If it does, its by far the worst feature ( or lack there of ) on the phone..

Is there any fix for this? Maybe the next OS upgrade?

It has auto focus in video mode. It's called continuous focus.

Continuous focus is a complicated mechanism it's not perfect in the gadgets except real camcorders( the sensor on those camcorders designed for video and they have motor for focusing) Smartphones have hybrid system because the sensor designed for video and photo. $1000 dslr doesn't even have a continuous auto focus in the video. N4 focuses pretty quick i have no complains..

Well, we are in the midst of a blizzard up here, and I try to take a quick vid of it, and the entire video looked like crap, Everything is blurred... Terrible focus IMO

Mine works fine! i Tested it just to make sure :D

Ha well gee, thanks ;)

My iphone 4 worked really well, touch to focus and you could see every dang snowflake , lol the N4 was just completely blurred, Hoping for a KeyLimePie fix... and a 'LG' N5 :D

The camera on the n4 is not the best. Its ok for quick shots and videos but for anything remotely good I wouldn't reccomend the n4 as your main camera or camcorder. I heard a rumor that the n5 is suppose to use nikkon to make the lens but again this is a rumor. Google has said though they want to make the camera a main point of focus for the new nexus line though.

That's pretty true for any smartphone camera. They aren't going to replace dedicated cameras for anyone serious about photography soon

I dunno. Both the s4 and the htc one have some very impressive cameras for phones.
Then there's the iphone. People can dog apple all they want some of it is warranted some is just bashing but the camera on the iphone 5 is highly impressive. They can make a phone camera. Interested to see what thry do with the 5s camera. Phone cameras are becoming major points for manufacturers now.

Agreed , My Ip4 takes better pics and vids than my N4..

And Its not like Im complaining, or trying to be a photography major, but I would expect on a phone of this caliber that photos and videos wouldnt be blurred and lower quality.. Especially video..

I think whats happening is the camera is trying to focus on the snow that is near to you, causing the rest of the image to be blurred.

As you say the iphone has a touch to focus, while the nexus has a continuous focus. What would be good is an option to switch off continuous focus and allow touch to focus. Maybe there are other video apps in the play store that would do this? I know thats not ideal, but at least it could be a workaround to get better results in snowstorms :)

I can understand why you'd choose continuous focus for video: by definition you're following things that are moving* so I suspect having to keep tapping for focus could quickly become a pain :D

* having said that, I did once see a guy at the Acropolis museum who was using his still camera for his family but his videocam for statues

For some reason I have trouble to focus when I am going to take a video. I've even had to switch to camera mode, touch to focus, and then switch back to videocam to take the video.
