Root Does the origonal root method for Thunderbolt still work?

I had to get a replacement for one of my phones and I am trying to root it again. I tried Revolutionary and I couldn't get it to work after about an hour with one problem after another. So, I fall back to the original method from a year ago, the original root method for the Thunderbolt using adb. I am getting stuck at some of the first steps and wondering if it is not working because the new phone has a newer bootloader than the original TB. Is Revolutionary the only way to root now?

I should add that the phone came running 2.11.605.19

Good news is, I got it rooted....finally! I tried the fre3vo technique and it worked. Now the bad news is that I am a little stuck. I thought I was doing an ok thing trying to restore from a cwm backup. So, after successfully rooting I booted into cwm and went to restore as usual. I wiped data, cache and dalvik. I proceeded to restore from my cm7 backup. Now, I have a black screen of death. It boots up and shows the HTC screen, but then just black. It's black, but the screen is definitely on. I am able to connect via adb and I booted back to bootloader. Recovery is gone and I don't really know what to do! Can someone help me??!!??

problem solved......forgot to flash the kernel!

if you are revolutionary rooted, recovery should have restored your kernel for you,so im a little confused why you had to flash it seperately

but im glad you got it working
