Help Does the stock Triumph support ext2, ext3, ext4?

I have a stock rooted Triumph and was looking into using Link2SD to move some apps to my SD card. For Link2SD, I need to make a second ext2, ext3 or ext4 partition on the card, but I'm not sure if the Triumph stock ROM supports any of those filesystems.

I know the CM7 and other custom ROMs have support for those, but I'm wondering if the stock Triumph will be able to read an ext2/3/4 partition.

Thanks.

Been a long time since I've been on the stock ROM but I believe it supports ext3. I ran stock rooted for a long time a while ago and I def had link2sd running on it, just don't remember which filesystem I was using.

...Come to think of it, I never repartitioned my sd card after switching to CM7 Reloaded and I'm running ext 4 right now.

In anycase, it's not that much of a hassle to change the partition if it's not supported, the app will tell you as soon as you open it up if it can't read the partition.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll give ext4 a try.

UPDATE: Well, I followed the xda dev instructions on adding an ext4 partition with Partition Wizard Minitool and now I'm getting an error "Damaged SD Card. SD Card damaged You may have to reformat it."

I tried re-mounting in the settings and removing/re-inserting the card but the Triumph still won't read it. On my PC, the SD card seems fine and data is readable. I have used the Windows Safe Eject every time.

I guess I'll try a couple more things, then I'll try ext2 and see if that's readable. Otherwise, it sounds like I might be able to use a second FAT32 partition for Link2SD.

That's odd. This is the tutorial I followed originally, just ignore the part about Swap if you're not using it.

Thanks for the tutorial. I followed the same procedure as before, except I wiped everything first and created a new FAT32 (normal partition) and new ext4 partition. This time, I didn't get a damaged card error and the files on the FAT32 partition were readable, but Link2SD gave me an error: "ext4 may not be supported on your device. Try fat32."

So, that's what I did. Rather than bother with an attempt at ext2, I just formatted the second partition as FAT32 and Link2SD is working fine now.

Just for the record, the stock unrooted Triumph supports the ext3 filesystem. My stock, unrooted Triumph shows that partitions /system, /data, /hidden, /hidden/data, and /cache to be ext3. And naturally /mnt/sdcard is formatted vfat or what's better known as fat32. I feel confident that ext2 is also supported. Not sure about ext4.

Thanks, that's good to know. Next time I rebuild I'll try ext2 for Link2SD, but FAT32 is working fine for now.

Enter this command to know what file systems are supported .
Adb or terminal emulator ,anything will do :)
Code:
#cat /proc/filesystems

Thanks, I'll make a note of that. I did a quick search for a command like that, but didn't find it.

The output shows ext2, ext3, vfat and others (but not ext4).

So ext4 is not supported
You can try insmodding ext4 modules (ext4.ko) at boot for ext4 for it to work.
Thoug I think ext2 or 3 will be good enough
Ext2 will be faster since it is not a journalled file system .
Ext3 is roughly equal to vfat imo .(on nand )
