does the tab 3 not take sd card adapters?

Newbie
a friend of mine visited me today bringing his Tab 3 7.0
I wanted to share some files I had on a spare microSD card I have for miscellaneous files using a Meenova micro usb micro SD card reader (MicroSD card goes into the adapter, adapter plugs into the micro usb port of the galaxy 3 7.0). The adapter has worked perfectly for any other galaxy phones and tablets ive connected it to (as long as it has a micro USB port obviously) but his Tab 3 7.0 just wouldnt take it. Theres an LED on the adapter that lights up when it connects, but it wouldnt even light up.
Have there been any problems reported with the Tab 3 series accepting usb adapters?

ps
the specific model number is SM-T210R

Try an OTG test app in the tab. If it can't do OTG, it can't take a card adapter. It has to be able to become a USB host to take a card in the USB port.

I don't think the sgt 3 7.0 can do otg. I think it was discussed in here before as one of the things the 8 could do but not the 7?
