Does this annoy you fellow Connect owners?

And Connect lovers are lucky because Metro is selling it for a great price, so there is no reason to complain. I wish my Esteem was still $249. I had to shell out $299 after my first Esteem sank in the ocean.

The most important specification of a screen is pixel density rated in pixel per inch. Colors and brightness are next. PPI is the primary reason that Retina Display of Apple fame is such a big deal.

As some one who has good eye sight, I will take PPI over larger screen any day! The Connect 4g has 242 PPI over the Esteems 216. The Esteems larger screen is only 7% larger than the Connects screen anyway. The difference in screen size is roughly 1/3 of an inch, which is really nothing. Take into consideration that the Iphone 4S screen is only 3.5 inches. Not really a fan of Apple but since they are the standard that all most everyone uses to compare other smart phones to, it was a necessary evil.

Personally I'm in favor of the Connect 4g over the Esteem for a lot of reasons besides just pixel density. The processor is a whole generation better, on a smaller process and has much better graphics processor than its predecessor.

Also neither of these phones are really high def screens. 800x480 resolution is standard definition but looks better due to higher pixel density. The standard for high definition screens starts at 1280x720 16:9 ratio or 1024x768 4:3 ratio. Lol sorry if I got carried away but hard numbers and facts make a debate much better.

We all know the connect is a better phone, technicaly. Doesnt change the fact that the connect came in too late when other carriers have had dual cores with way bigger screens for a while. Its just the flagship phone that people are waiting to be replaced with a better phone already.

Well, all you, Connect owners, know. LOL Ask in the LG Esteem forum. LG Connect has never had any spotlight, and it will become completely irrelevant when Metro will offer a real upgrade.

Just on a side note. Thought I'd chime in and say i was THRILLED when i got this phone and I saw that the screen wasn't annoyingly large like my gf's Razer. (Meaning fork semi tablets that i can't fit in my pocket comfortably.) The screen size on the connect is perfect. Oh, and my gf and my buddy said "wow that screen looks amazing" when i was playing some videos.

For what it's worth I'd love the hdmi out but seeing as we have easy share and more tvs are made smart than not now it's almost a moot point. I would love the hdmi though for sure.

I think you care about this way too much. Device envy? Denial? I don't know what it is but you seem to be hanging in the connect forums quite a bit, and touting your esteem, whilst taking this thread way off base, and double/triple posting like a mad man.

Why do you care so much?

I have both devices. It just irritates me when some people think they know what is best for everyone, and come to weird conclusions, such as people buy Esteem for bling, or technically incompetent people buy Esteem etc.

If I were device envy, I would be on Samsung Galaxy SIII forums;)

I had a real choice whether to buy Connect or Esteem when I sank my Esteem in the ocean last month. And I knew all the differences between Esteem and Connect, and still stayed with Esteem. In fact, I ordered both, but I gave Connect to my mom as an upgrade from Samsung Admire.

I have both.

Not the point, I asked why you care so much. I also have an esteem and feel totally different, IMO my connect is quite a bit faster and smoother. I like it far more and didn't mind giving my esteem to my wife, granted she likes the esteem better than the attain, but even she likes my connect better.

However, I don't come into the esteem forums and rant about how much better my connect is, and hijack threads talking sillyness that doesn't even matter and going off topic.

Great, you love your esteem. The connect isn't an upgrade, its cheap plastic with no shiny lights, a small screen and smells like bad cheese. We get it.

Did you have a defective Esteem? My Esteem at least as smooth as Connect in general use.

You know, once you participate in a forum once, Tapatalk keeps it in the participated forums section.

And I am not saying it is better. Al I am saying, it is debatable. Neither of the two phones is a clear winner. They are about the same when you consider all cons/pros. For me, Esteem is better.

So because it's there, you have to keep coming back and ranting? Lol. Not everyone will agree with you. And some will, I just think this is a topic that has already been raped, beat to death and then had its corpse raped again.

I don't have anything against you liking the esteem more than the connect, but you say you get irritated when people make assumptions as to what's best for everyone else. Did you not do the same by pretty much saying the connect isn't a real upgrade? Some of us think it is. How is it not? (I don't want you to actually answer that, we will just go full circle again. I just want you to really think about it.

Enjoy your phone, and I will mine.

P.S. I bet I can pee farther than you.

So, got an esteem for £50 today after a friend got a connect....
New emulator toy for now as my (sprint) epic is on ics and thus is my rom toy ATM.

IMO, too big. I'll upload a pic of it in my pocket while my climbing harness is on when I get off work tomorrow.

My connect runs smooth @600mhz too, which I cannot say for the esteem.

On the planet where people pay more money for the older model.

What seems to be the problem?

Don't like the price hike? - buy Connect.

Don't like MetroPCS practices? - Jump the boat and switch to another carrier. I am sure other carriers never try to take advantage of their customers.

There is nothing despicable here. Nobody forces you to buy Esteem.

I will tell you what despicable is. Despicable is when Verizon charges you like you are calling to some remote African country for calls within U.S. when you go over the allotted minutes. Once, I paid $140 for $70 plan due to overages. That's what taking advantage of people really means. Ironically, I overaged that month because I spent hours on the phone with AT&T, another crooked company, because they did not properly apply the rebate to my new home internet service, and their stupid employees think slowly and place you on hold often.

Then buy the connect? As you know I already have one. Got it on day 1 of release. Was gonna wait some before buying,... being the esteem had that reboot problem early on. But I been waiting over a month for the lg connect to come out and I got impatient. It was due out in early feb. but was'nt released until early march. And it was $100 more at that time than the esteem.

Don't know what's the big deal about the notification lights. Do they light up in your pocket? Wouldn't you be better served by a ping, or vibrate for that incoming email? Thats what I have. Don't see the need for any lights. You have a status bar for notifications, and a sound or vibrate alert. I have never seen the esteem. Those lights,.... do they twinkle like a Christmas tree or something? Do they have a strobe effect? Tell me, what am I missing?

Since you brought up Verizon's price gouging,.... how about Metro raising my plan $20 after the first month. From 50 to 70 after one month. Could you imagine your landlord raising your rent over 30% one month after you moved in. It's unheard of.

And believe me,... if I didn't invest over $400 for the phone + plan,.... It would be easy to say goodbye to Metro. They continue to cut coners, and treat us with little regard. Just the other day, they discontinued my metro navigator, saying my limited subscription expired. Where did it say it was a trial app? Nowhere. And what,.... the trial was for 4 months and 7 days? How many other apps on this phone are on a trial basis that we don't know about? It's ridiculous how Metro is going about their business.

Sorry that you got a defective Esteem; that sucks.

Notification lights let you know whether you got something new by just looking at the phone without taking the phone in your hands and turning on the screen. It is very convenient, especially after you leave the phone on a desk unattended for short periods of time, our when you don't want any audio disturbances in a very silent room; vibration on a hard surface makes some noise.

What the heck are you talking about regarding plan price? I have an old pan MetroPCS plan, and they have not raised my price not even by a penny.

Look up in your plan which applications are included for free with it, no need to get dissappointed. Cell phone companies do staff like that all the time. Use Google Navigator; it is better and free.

Oh boy oh boy!! What are you 12? Meet me at the monkey bars.

Dude, I just fell out of this truck laughing....
