Help Does this phone have auto correct???

If you are using the Samsung Keyboard as default, try this:

Settings>Language and input

Go into the Samsung keyboard settings. Find a setting that suggests words (Predictive text or XT9). If it's XT9, check under it to see if you can access XT9 advanced features. You will find settings for word completion, spell correction, auto-substitution, etc. This is coming from my Note 5.3 ICS. I don't know if they changed this with JB.

On my Note 10.1, I select 'Predictive text' to get the same advanced settings.

Hopefully it's the same for the Note 2.

I do not think so. It only seems to correct with predictive text turned on. Using this feature, you are allowed to "select" the correct spelling. I am coming from an iPhone keyboard, so this is taking some getting used to. I am trying out SwiftKey as an alternative keyboard and like it very much. Happy typing. :)

I actually much prefer the predictive words than auto-correct. I can't count how many texts I've received from family members and friends that own iphones where they've had to correct themselves because of auto-correct. The fact that Samsung has the integrated swype with the one-handed keyboard function makes it my keyboard of choice for sure. I was using SwiftKey 3 for the past couple months (on the Photon), but as soon as I got the Note 2, I haven't even tried using swiftkey 3 again.

See, I prefer autocorrect because it is accurate 95% of the time and I hardly had to pay attention to accuracy on my Droid X. Kind of disappointed here. Oh well.

Edit: Hell no. **** this. I am finding a third party keyboard with auto-correct.

I would suggest SwiftKey app. The best predictive text keyboard in Android. I use Swype more because of the availability of my native language dictionary.

Right on. Get Swiftkey at the playstore. Its not hard to find - is #1 paid app. Its On Sale right now to for $2 if I remember correctly. It works very much like ios typing.

They have Tagalog in Swype???

Yup, both in Swype beta and the preloaded Swype. =)

EDIT: Here are the keyboards I use. Thumb KB 4 is great for tablets. :)

i would switch back to swiftkey(used it on thunderbolt before getting the note) but i cant figure out a way to have the dedicated number row with swiftkey and ive gotten really used to having the numbers there on the stock keyboard.

I wonder if a custom skin could be made in swiftkey for owners of larger phones that has the button row? Coming from an iphone, it only took one garbled text message for me to quickly purchase swiftkey. I've tried swype before, not a fan.

that's badass!...LOL...They didn't have it on the Photon, and whenever I tried to download, it was never listed (for Tagalog or Filipino...which bugs me to see that sometimes).

I must be the biggest idiot around. I cannot get swype to learn any words. Never had an issue on any device before and I have been using this for a long time.

I cuss a ton and the damn thing will not learn anything!

If you "type" in a word, Swype should automatically add it to the dictionary. :D

That's what you would think. Nothing saving

You are right with the stock Swype, but Swype beta saves it. Not sure why the stock one is not saving.
