Root does update unroot ?

I have the l9 rooted and metro pcs has sent an update, it continually ask to update. first question, do I have to update if not how do I get it to stop asking?
Second question, if I do update do I have to reroot ?
If this has already been asked and answered I apologize for the repeat as I couldn't find a thread to my problem.

To your first question I'm not sure as I don't have this device and not sure if there is even a method to kill the notifications.

Yes you always have to reroot if you take a official OTA. But unless you have the stock recovery, the OTA update will always fail each time you try to install it.

Yea, Updating kills root and you will have to re-root if you update.

To stop update notifications from popping up, the solution in this thread should do it. You will need to be rooted and install FOTAKill.apk. It's what I did and no OTA notifications have ever shown up since.
