Does using a case make the phone hotter?

Any opinions on whether using a case increases battery/cpu temps while in use? I feel like heat gets trapped between the case and the phone, constantly making the phone hotter. Temps seem to rise (CPU/battery).

Would using a case raise temps quicker, or just a bare droid with your hand on the back? Im not sure, but maybe a bare hard would make the phone heat up quicker?

Im using the Seido Innocase by the way.

I used the innocase with my D2G (which is the hottest running of all the Droid phones, due to its faster processor) and never had an issue. I had SetCPU set to throttle the processor when temps hit 42C, and the only time that ever happened was when in the car, while charging, in direct sunlight. That's to be expected. The plastic case will absorb heat from the phone, and then dissipate it at a slightly slower rate (plastic is a better insulator than metal, obviously).

TL;DR: You won't have any problems. If you're paranoid, use SetCPU or something like it to throttle your CPU when your battery hits a certain temp.

I use the bodyglove on the D1 and have since day1... it's not completly sealed due to the slider, volume rockers, camera and the speaker grill. I believe it's neoprene wrapped around plastic. Honestly have never given it thought as to it keeping heat in, but the logic in my head says yes it would (my logic may be trumped by reality at times). Thinking that nothing would be better than nice fresh air flowing across the bare backing.
my idle temps stays within 68-75...

If your temps aren't getting up over 125 you should be fine, but as NGFL says above use setcpu (or equivalent) to throttle back if needed.

Good to see people not having problems. My temps have been rising quickly, but ill try the case again and monitor it closely...thanks for the responses

my phone would rarely get over 89.6F, so im going to try and see where my temps are at with the innocase on.

No, it adds a negligible amount of insulating properties.
Don't you imagine if these cases, which are popular, caused heat related issues that we'd hear about about it?

Completely anecdotal. My droid has sat in my pocket in the case for months.
They'd be out of business if the cases were causing damage due to heat.

I suggest you get a thermometer and some paper and take thousands of readings over many months.
