Help Does your GPS work indoors?

My GPS can never lock on inside. My old HTC EVO could easily do this. Is the GPS weak in the Samsung device?

I can get it to lock within 60 meters indoors after 2-3 minutes. It tends to do better with the Wifi assistance, IMO.

I"ll try wifi assistance. Have not tried that.

Just strange how my HTC EVO would lock on within 5-6 seconds at my home, and the office. Same places. This GPS seems to take awhile.

Iphone would lock almost instantly in my house. Charge won't...unless you define 'instantly' as about 3 minutes.

My OG Droid never had a problem with GPS. DC however is just like wife's fascinate without wifi assist it takes way too long if it does lock on. Samsung seems to doubt the importance of strong GPS components.

The GPS is fine on the Charge in my opinion. Yes, it does lock slow indoors, but the TB wouldn't lock at all. The Charge locks plenty fast outdoors (2-3 sec usually, 15 sec max), whereas the TB would take anywhere from 2-5 minutes. All in all, it's pretty much on part with my old Touch Pro2 in terms of GPS, which was also fine in my opinion.

However, I do miss having the Garmin navigation software and maps available, which I had on the TP2. Google Navigation just isn't (nearly) as accurate, and also requires a data connection at all times.

No GPS indoors (unlike many other phones), but it works outdoors which is a major step forward over the Fascinate, which had completely non-functional GPS.

Nor did mine, until I turned on the "Google Location Services" setting. Not sure why exactly this works, but my GPS works great now. I have toggled the setting on and off and it seems to work only when this setting is on.

I guess i dont get it do you use your gps in the house? I use it on the road

No, but its probably a good measure of how sensative/good the GPS function of a phone is. If it can get a signal indoors, then its likely to perform very well outdoors, or in a city with tall buildings around, or other areas. In fact, the GPS functionality of my Charge drops off IN THE CAR, because car must block some of the signal.
