Help Doesn't work

Right out of the box all my sons kindle fire does when start is display the "Kindle Fire" logo no yellow slider bar to unlock it. It is fully charged and there are no troubleshooting instructions included in the package. Am I doing something wrong or is the tablet defective?

According to Amazon's website, for an unresponsive or locked screen,

Try performing a hard reset on your Kindle Fire: press and hold the power button for 20 seconds and then release. After the device has completely turned off, press the power button to restart your Kindle Fire. If your Kindle Fire is still unresponsive, try charging your Kindle Fire before trying to reset the device again.

If this does not resolve the issue, please contact us.

It doesn't specify if it is for running Fire's only or those with boot issues as well. It's worth a try.
