Dog Days/Afternoons...

We love taking our two Shih Tzu money pits to their boarding place for several reasons:
- They love playing with their doggy friends
- The Darling Bride and I are free of furry anchors all day
- We can both take a Lunesta and SLEEP all night
- The dogs come home happy and exhausted
We enjoyed a 25+ year run sharing our digs with Shih-Tzus. They are an enjoyable loving breed. The last pair we had hopes that they might breed. We even named the male Romeo. 
He had good intentions but he grew up to be a huge dog for his breed. He easily out weighed the female by ten or more pounds. They still took care of each other and made a fine couple. They traveled with us and were always a delight. One thing that I found interesting, the male was deaf and mute. He was a clever dog and could read lips or knew by facial expressions what you were asking him to do such as sit up, roll over, crawl, etc. I miss each and every pet that I shared life with... especially the Shih-Tzus.

Both our Shih Tzus are rescues: one was fostered out of a puppy mill and the other was from a relative (in-law, I promise) who was abusive and neglectful. Both of them are girls, they have a love/hate relationship, and they're both pushing 14. The Darling Bride and I have already agreed that when these two croak, that's it. No more furry anchors! We've already told the vet we expect to see a brass memorial plate on one of the exam rooms, dedicating it to Isabella.
