Done with Android. Switching to Iphone 5

Probably your new Iphone is going to have less problems than any Android, but is going to have much less power, features and flexibility too...

Depends on each one... I always prefer the power and capabilities of an open OS like Android!

It's like everyone going to (or back to) apple expects us to take it personally and feels the need to post a see-ya thread.

I didn't post on any winmo forums that I was getting an android, should I have?

As I'm sure it's been said a million times before, Android isn't for everyone. Neither is iOS. Wife has an iPhone and it's perfect for her to just jump in and it does exactly what she wants it to do. Me personally, I like Android and don't care for iOS. I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen that I use strictly as a music player because I just don't "get" iOS.... Android makes much more sense to me.

Whatever choice you make, it's YOUR choice and you need to use a device that YOU like. If iOS works for you, then that's what you need to get. These devices are too expensive to take someone else's opinion on what you "should" have.... test-drive the iPhone 5 when it comes out and if you like it, then go for it. I don't think the OS is getting a major overhaul with the iPhone 5 (I could be wrong of course) so head to your nearest wireless retailer and play with an iPhone 4. That will give you a pretty good idea on what to expect when the iPhone 5 comes out.

"I just love the individuality of my Android"

I had to repost that quote as it's my thoughts exactly.

I wanted to love an iphone but it just wasn't me.

There's no rule against it. When users have been around the place for a while they often feel that other users they've come to know deserve an explanation. Constructive criticism is also always welcome, as it helps people make informed decisions.

That would depend on how said forums would react to such a post. Not all places are as open and inclusive as Android Forums. ;)

I got an EVO 3D, hit with Android 2.3.4 on the second day of ownership, so I have no experience with any bugs in its 2.3.3 form. But it has been completely fast and solid for me, with virtually no lag and hesitation. Crashes and freezes are a virtual zero. Its been even more solid than my Galaxy S2, which is still at 2.3.3 and the S2 itself has been more solid than any other Android phone I've owned previously.

Good luck with Apple bro. I think these days whether it's a premium Android phone or an Apple one it really boils down to which OS you prefer to use....

The Apple Kingdom..

..or..

The Android Universe.

I love this thread, goodbye enjoy your iPhone 5 which is yet to be released. This is exactly why Apple do so well selling their shiz, because people will buy it regardless of cost and spec. I know a guy who works for Apple and he tells me that people come into his store and ask for the iTab. My point exactly.

I switched from the iPhone to my first Android and HTC phone, which is the HTC Sensation. The Sensation is the best phone I have ever had, with out a doubt, it doea everything I want and more, I'm learning new things about it all the time, with the iPhone I was seriously restricted! But at the time I didn't care because I had an iPhone.....finally snapped out of that!

I still visit the Nokia Support Discussions forum from time to time and help people out there with their problems. There's nothing wrong with that I suppose. Actually, a number of us with "red letter names" (highest ranked posters) in that forum already have android phones we use together with our Nokia devices (I use my 5800 still as I am on two networks, one for the hospital I am in).

I was eligible for a new Verizon phone last month, and could have waited till October for the iPhone 5 but chose the Droid Bionic which I got last week. The i5 will be dual GSM-CDMA which is great, but can't be 4G because of a size factor or something. My Bionic on 4G, battery lasts 4 -6 hours, so I have it on 3G except when downloading an app or something. Main thing I went for is Google Navigation on Android which is free and fabulous. Though, it likes major roads and yesterday took me on a trip 4 miles longer because it didn't like back roads! But I understand you pay extra for voice directed navigation on iPhone, unless the Bing app has it. Bing for Windows Mobile has excellent voice directed navigation, but Bing for Android does not, probably because Google provides it. Not sure about iPhone..check it out in your local store.

All said and done, I'm delighted with my Droid Bionic. Costco offers about $200 worth of accessories free with it, but right now Costco gets only a few phones a day and they're sold out in minutes. I was a lucky one, happened to call Costco when a supply of phones came in, drove fast to the store, and picked up the phone.

Good luck with your Bionic. After my experience with the Droid X I swore that I would never buy another Moto phone.

Is that true? Do you really have to pay for voice directed navigation on the iPhone?

Exactly my point. When was the last time you saw someone ragging on a person because they liked Coke instead of Pepsi?

would love for you and others to write about your experiences in my thread (link below in my signature)

Apple iPhone please I have an iPad iit freezes always forgetting your password for Internet. Horriable camera quality. Honestly I like my android better. You think apple doesn't freeze? Just wait.....

Good luck!

To the OP, Android and iOS are both great operating systems. The problem with android is that any phone manufacturer can put it on their phone and not make their phone's hardware fully compatible and that's why you experience problems. With iOS its only built for the iphone and is fully compatible since Apple makes both the hardware and the software. But for the android its a different story. If you want to have a rich android experience get a phone that's fully compatible with it.

Don't blame android for problems, blame your phone's manufacturer for running the operating system on a device that's not capable of running it properly. That's why you don't see me saying "im done with android" but instead for me its "im done with my LG Optimus M because it doesn't fully support the android system and that's why it freezes and crashes way too often, so now I have decided to get another Android phone that runs the system properly."

Oh wow, this one time...

Anyway, since you're moving to the iPhone 5, you might as well keep us informed on how it performs; Apple being Apple is hyping it like the second coming of Steve Jobs and what better way to really get the gritts of it from someone who already tried Android. :p

Me too. I tend to visit AllAboutSymbian more. I have an N97 which I now only use as a music player. I still follow Nokia products.

I do look at Apple stuff as well and have been increasingly following some Apple forums. I had considered getting an iPad 2 at one point.

I thing it is good to see what competing products have and what those users have to say.

Just seen tonights Ortiz vs Mayweather HBO fight on my on my Droid, iPhone 5 would never be able to do that.

Flash FTW.

You gotta be crazy to use any mobile apple product.

iPhone is a thing of the past.

hmm...dont apple make prototypes for every other company? :P im sure iphone 5 will have some good features too. boo apple and microsoft. sony 4 life lol
