Root Dont understand some instructions on rooting

Lortab

Newbie
I have downloaded the htcdriver and installed it on my c drive. I have backed up everything and I have my phone setup on debugging. Now I am at this point and have no clue what these instructions actually mean. Wheere the hell do I put what someone please help asap.

download this and put this file, superuser su-2.3.-signed zi6.3-efghp on the root(not in any folder) of your card via usb cable.

the root of your sd card means the 'top' level. IE, if your phone shows up as F:\, then F:\ is the root. The final location of the file should be :
F:\theFileThatYouWant.zip

I hope that helps.

Well, I'm guessing this is a PCIMG file? If so you don't extract it, just leave it as F:\ZIPFILE.zip

That's how most (if not all (I haven't seen one to the contrary)) zip files are flashed (left as a a zip).

Nope not a pc36img just the superuser for the stock rom

next we need to flash the superuser file (superuser su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip)
10.select recovery in bootloader.
11.select install .zip from sdcard.
12.find the superuser file and flash it.

im sorry the talk you are saying is soo nconfusing to me to be honest I really have no clue what I am doing lol. I have transferred the zipped file of su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed to the location of F:/ which is my phone. NOW What? lol sorry

Ahh.. okay. So if they are flashing it from the recovery then it really doesn't need to be in the root of the sd card right?

can someone maybe skype or aim me and maybe teamview this thing for me. It would be much appreciated

Is the su zip file on your sd card?
No > Put it on the sd card.
Yes > boot into recovery (power off, vol down + power on) then recovery
>>> then install zip, then find the Su*.zip file.

That should help.

HUH? I am soo sorry guys I am really ******ed when it comes to understanding all these code things yall are saying. All I want is to be able to get the app to do hotspot. lol

And maybe learn what roms are and how to make my phone look like an iphone, Id like to learn whatelse i can do with a rooted phone but dont wanna go too far just yet

I believe so i so far backed up everything and downloaded and installed that htc driver file to my computer. I didnt reset anything on my phone yet though. I have usb debugging on and then downloaded that super user file and didnt unzip it just placed it in my phone drive. Thats all i have done

Ok I think you may have skiped a section. What we need to do is power the phone off and pull the battery out wait like 10 seconds and put the battery in. then hold power and volume down untill it boots into a white Hboot screen. There at the top it will tell you either S on or S off
and there will be an H boot version something like 2.16.0001. Post what your phone says and we will get you to the right spot

(on a side note, I'm a bit surprised that revolutionary is still in preview(at least on the site)). It has been a while..

Not familiar with teamview, but look at the rooting for dummies gingerbread guide at the top of this forum and just follow the step by step guide there. If you have any issues we're always here to help.
