Help Double contacts problem

Howie54

Lurker
Hi just bought a galaxy s2 and the girl in the shop transferred my contacts from my old phone but now when I open Contacts it is showing 2 entries for each contact (one of the entries has a pic of a sim card next to it).
Which entry should I delete and is there an easy way to do them all at once?
Total newbie to androids :~)

Hi Howie, there are a few ways of storing your contacts on Android - Phone, SIM and on the Google Cloud. You can store them on all and they would all be displayed in your phone book. In order to display only a certain group, open the phonebook, hit menu, then view (or display options, it might differ on a Samsung handset) and you should be able to select which groups of contacts you want to display.

I'd recommend backing them up to your gmail account as that way they're backed up should you get another phone or you need to factory reset your current handset. If you want to back them up to google, the process is detailed here.

Edit: I took way to long to type :o
