Help Double notifications with text messages...

This is really annoying. I have been using Handcent for a while and turned off my notifications on the stock messenger with no problems. Now all of a sudden I am getting double notifications. One from Handcent and one from stock. I went into the stock settings and the notification box is still unchecked as normal yet I'm getting notifications from it now.

Any ideas?

weird perhaps its an issue caused by the recent update to handcent? i've had nothing but problems since the last update (3.6.1) everytime i open HC it opens as if its been opened for the first time (displaying the new release notes) and doesnt save any settings eg themes and conversation bubble settings, it also Force closes if i spend too long in the program, so i've had to revert to stock for the time being as it is unusuable. one way of telling, and i know its a pain in the backside but its an idea, is to uninstall handscent and install somethign else like Chompsms, and again disable notifications from the stock sms app and see if you are still getting dual notifications, if you aren't then you know its a HC issue if you are then its an issue with your phone and thats as far as my technical knowledge goes

My Droid 2 is doing the same thing today. after 3 hours of tinkering with settings including removing the battery as well as deleting all the apps regarding messenging to the point where the only one on my Droid was the stock app. Since the problem persisted I reinstalled Handcent since it wasn't the problem. I turned off notifications to Handcent and I'm only getting one notification. Which is as it should. But for my own mental sanity I turned off notifications to the stock app as well and the single notification is still there.
