Help Double Screens?

ocyberbum

Newbie
I couldn't find anything on this but I'm having a problem with my screen, every once in awhile when the screen comes on i have 2 of them.. the same screen duplicated.. one on top and one below it, stacked on each other, both show the same unlock screen etc. I can usually just cut the screen on and off again and it usually goes away but im wondering what could be causing it and could it be a potential problem

It sounds like an app. Ask yourself when it started, what changed around that time, did you add an app, tweak some settings? Remove any apps or revert any settings that you may have added and see if that fixes the issue. If not then back up your phone (do a search for "backup" if you want to know what's a good app) and call Verizon who will most likely want to do a phone reset.

Hello ocyberbum. As TxGoat says, it's likely an app/widget.

I'd suspect the latest thing(s) installed, as he also said, but also the possibility that it's an app or widget that you've had for a while but in which you've recently changed in configuration in that app's menu somewhere.

The fact that it's not constant, and is occurring "every once in a while," as you say, suggests that there is a syncing service involved which is not playing nice with the system.

Think it through.. the first thing I would do would be to clear cache and data on all 3rd part apps, which can be a bit of a time consuming thing to undo once you've identified the rogue program, but quite worth the trouble, in my opinion. ;)

This is exactly the same thing that I have going on. I know I got a refurb, but this started the day after I got the phone and didn't have any apps on it yet. I'm hoping to get a picture with my camera to show Verizon and the world! I know I'll have to do a hard reset at some point, like if this gets worse.

I bought my Rezound from someone on eBay and I have had the same exact issue. It's very random and not very often so I haven't been too concerned yet.

It has happened before and after I rooted. And I don't think it's app related imo.

Since I really don't have a path to return or exchange the phone, I am just hoping it's a random glitch and that something bad won't happen to my phone down the road because of it.

Screen shot! Hold power button in and press home. Saves in gallery.

I get this effect infrequently too. I just hit the power button and turn it back on and the symptom goes away. Doesn't bother me. I expect software to be somewhat buggy.

hmmm seems like there may be something to this, it did it today while i was listing to some music and shopping..i was locking and locking it to change music and check off my grocery list. i had all services off except the ph. weird

My sons rezound does the same double screen once in a while. Its happened since the day he got it. Hardly an issue compared to all the other phone issues with other brands.

I have this same problem once in awhile, I think it has happened twice. It only happens when I am on the phone and then pull the phone away from my head. If I power screen off and back on it stops

I had this as well, and mine was from a new phone (ordered online on launch day). It started doing this about 1.5 weeks after I got it. It is very intermittent, like around 1-2 weeks in between occurences sometimes, and there seems to be no clear cause for it.

I had other issues as well, like redrawing when going back to the homescreen, intermittent force closes, and the worst was having to frequently refresh Google.com page to do a search otherwise when I typed in a topic and hit search nothing happened.

It came to a head last night when my Rezound wouldn't connect to my Network Extender. When I dialed #48 it said I was under Network Extender coverage, but my signal was -105dBm (same as without the NE). So I tried restarting, no difference. Then I did a battery pull & it started random rebooting. It would let me have access to the phone for about 30 sec's to 1 minute after the homescreen appeared but before it rebooted again. It got to around 10 reboots before I got someone from VZW tech support from my land mine. We did a master reset and it still wasn't showing any better signal so they decided to send me a new one.

About an hour after I got off the phone with them the signal came back. I've got the phone mostly back to it's previous setup except for personalized ringtones & music playlists, but all apps are loaded up again. So far I haven't had it occur, but since it's only one day since the reset it's very possible it's not fixed and I just haven't seen it yet. When it first happened I assumed it was a hardware issue rather than software, like maybe a run of phones had a bad solder joint causing it.

What worries me is the phone Verizon's sending me is an unknown entity. I may have other issues with that phone that I don't have with my current one. The only reason I agreed to then sending out a replacement is because at the time I had no way to make calls with it, so there really wasn't a choice. I'm kinda hoping that I see the double screen issue before the replacement arrives so I'd feel better about returning my current one.

The only thing I can think of would be the fastboot feature, but I didn't enable that until about a month after the double screen issue first appeared, so I don't know.
