Help Double tap issue

Hello! Sometimes, when I try to double tap the M8 to wake the screen, especially after not using the phone for a certain amount of time, it does not react and I must use the physical button to do so. This has happened to me quite often. It is not really that a big deal but I wondered if it is just a software bug and if my device has a problem. Has this happened to you too? Thank you.

Try rebooting your phone. If that doesn't resolve the problem, I would try putting a little effort into your double tap because it could be a little weak. If it is, hit the gym bro.

yeah I get that a bit.. it doesn't really with very well if the phone is flat on table etc i find.. try tilting it a bit.. i find it can help

At the risk of jinxing myself,I think I've got one of the best all-around quality builds/parts/etc....

Virtually flush/even face & grills, great speakers, very bright screen which I actually can use at less than 50% brightness indoors.Oh yeah, killer battery life as well, much better than expected.

Last, but not least, the "knock-on" feature actually works better than the phone that this one replaced (G2) & my G-FLEX.

Judging from a similar thread in the G2 forum, this subject will also lean toward a YMMV item, especially if parts & place of mfg of the handsets vary, not to mention the varialble of the individuals using the phone.

Mine works about 90% of the time. The phone needs a specific amount of movement to be woken up.

Lol, every time I clean the screen with a micro fiber, (pretty often) it wigs out!

Works for me 90% of the time too.

I've noticed that it seems to use the gyroscope to determine the orientation of the device. For me it's really only active if I'm holding the phone up. I think sometimes the sensor doesn't wake up or it times out after being inactive for a while.

In general I absolutely love this feature

Come on guys, it's called a motion gesture for a reason. ;) The phone needs a little hint that you intend to unlock the screen. All that is needed is a gentle tap on one edge to wake the sensor and alert the phone and then the gesture. Tap pause then double tap...works 100% for me.

mine sometimes really doesnt want to respond- but a bit of a tilt and shake sorts it :D

Same here. If I've left the phone for a awhile and then pick it up and double tap nothing happens. I need to wiggle the phone and then double tap. Having to do that negates its use as it would have been quicker to press the power button :D

However most of the time it works OK.

I'm thinking they made it less sensitive with an update. Grabbing the phone out of your pocket would wake the phone up. I could be wrong.
