Help Double texts?

Okay, I done a search on this issue and can't find anything. Sorry if this has been addressed before.

I have Handcent SMS now since 06-05-10. I've noticed that I am receiving double texts from people. Its not just from one person, but a few (but not everyone). I will receive a text say at 7pm and then at 3am, I will receive the same text again. This only happens periodically and not for every text I receive. I think this might be a Sprint issue and not an EVO issue. Anyone else experiencing this?

Me too, only with my brother in law. he is on ATT. poor dude. Hope someone can help us out.
 
I received 2 double texts from two different friends the other day. This was also using the Android OEM message service. My hero had text issues too, this is a HTC/ Sprint issue.
 
if you are all useing a secondary sms app, by this i mean handscent or compsms, you are getting double txt's because the app supplied by your service provider is cheking txt to. you need to disable the recieve txt option in the original application.

Thanks, I will try that, but it seems if that were the problem, I would double texts everytime from everyone. AHAB pointed out that it seems to be coming from those using ATT. That's definitely the case for me... the double texts are coming from those that are using an iPhone.

Now that I look at it, both double text suspects are iPhone users!

Agree'd it's not a problem with both sms apps doubling up. It's only one message every now and then. I haven't really paid attention to what network the senders are on.
 
has anyone figured this out yet. i just switched from att to sprint with my new evo phone. its getting pretty annoying getting double text from half of my friends
 
The double texts are only at random, so I don't think it has anything to do with the notifications. I have handcent but not using it because I was having trouble sending pictures with it, so I turned off all notifications. I'm not back to using the "messages" app.
