Root Downgrade/Rooting 2.11.605.9 problems...

So got a Thunderbolt on ebay a few days ago and unluckily it was updated before i got it... I've been trying for about a week now to find different solutions on Google and finally decided to just sign up here to see if I cant get an answer. I've tried downgrading to .5 multiple times (pg05img.zip) and always get some kind of error telling me the version is lower then the current one so i cant do it. I've also tried using the revolutionary.io site but no luck with that. What do you guys think??

are you sure the PG05IMG you were trying is for 2.11.605.5 and not something older? this would be the first case ive heard of it not working,if your really trying the .5 firmware.

try running the .exe file for 2.11.605.5,available from here: http://androidforums.com/thunderbol...underbolt-root-unroot-thread.html#post3272390

if that doesnt work, go ahead and htcdev unlock. once finished, you can "fastboot flash" a recovery and then flash an older rom in recovery. luckily, this is all that is needed, since hboot 1.05 is supported by revolutionary(the .9 update just breaks the temp root method) more detailed instructions here: How I got s-off on bootloader 1.05 - xda-developers

since youve got a used phone, you dont have any factory warranty and therefore no real good reason to avoid htcdev.

holler if you have questions :)

Scotty I'd love to tell you what I did, but i cant seem to replicate it hahaha. I have another Un-rooted Thunderbolt with the 2.11.605.9 software on it so im gonna see what i can do about getting it to work again. As soon as i do ill post it here!
Sorry about that lol

so got it to work. found a post from you saying pretty much (if not exactly) the same thing.
Using fre3vo and ADB

adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell /data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start f0000000 -end ffffffff

after the "Exploiting Device..."
run Revolutionary and its all set! Thanks again for the help.

Thank you PatHastings! That worked. A helluva lot easier than waiting for the >400MB download and going backwards etc... :D
