Downgrading Ace 2 to Gingerbread

Hi there. I recently upgraded my Galaxy Ace 2 to Jellybean from the leaked software. Whilst the OS is great, it's too laggy on the phone, so wanted to return to the original OS, gingerbread.

There's various guides on how to do this following other peoples dissatisfaction for Jellybean, but when downloading the file 'I8160XXLK6_I8160OXXLK1_HOME.tar.md5' every guide says that after extracting, there should be 3 files:

- CODE_GT-I8160XXLK6_CL1211243_REV00_SEC_KEY_LK6-4G.tar.md5
- CSC_GT-I8160-MULTI-CSC-0XELF1_SEC_KEY_4G.tar.md5
- GT-I8160_EUR_XX_4G.pit

But following extraction the only file that appears is "GT-I8160_EUR_XX_4G.pit". Has anyone else encountered this and know the solution? I've tried searching for the individual files online to no avail. I'm familiar with the process of using Odin after using it for the upgrade, but this has stumped me.

I'd appreciate all the help as I can get as my phone is currently stuck on the main logo screen.

Hi,
Apparently you successfully soft bricked your phone.

First thing you need to do is:

*Try boot your phone in recovery mode first and "clean the partition + a factory reset".

If that didn't work,

*Try boot your phone in download mode and flash your JB firmware again.

JB firmware for the Ace 2 is pretty laggy as it has been very poorly optimised for the device. Here's the best steps to take to reduce the lag and make it bearable again:

1. Root your device using the easy root method in the All Things Root section (be very careful. Though, if you feel confident enough to manually flash firmware then rooting your phone with Jelly Bean should be a cakewalk.)

2. Factory reset and clear cache at least once or twice. You might actually wanna do this first.

3. Install Andromizer (the free version will do). In Andromizer look for One-Touch Optimisation. It should be either under tweaks or tools.

4. Reboot phone when prompted.

5. Install Nova Launcher. (TouchWiz Nature UX is also very poorly optimised for Ace 2 and can be rather laggy. Nova removes this lag and adds other cool features.)

Following all this steps should remove lag and make the phone run almost as well as it did on Gingerbread. Mine's running fine now for the most part. Samsung seriously need to get their brains in gear though and release improved Jelly Bean firmware with correct optimisation for the device.

Poor phone... maybe is better if you put him to sleep and just take him out of is misery.

Or just flash the latest unbranded firmware available.
That should do it.

Ya, if phone's running slow on GB then it's an issue with the phone. GB runs like lightning, the downside being the experience is extremely gimped compared to JB.
