Downgrading Android version

Hello Android folks.

Attempting to test a project of ours against less mainstream devices to track down issues with it. Recently acquired an easypix SmartPad EP750 which fails with our app.

However currently I cannot get adb to detect the device on either Windows or Mac, on windows we have tried multiple drivers and even though it looks to be installing the Rk29 device driver adb just will not detect the device (usb debugging is turned on).

The closest version of the sdk we can download to the version the tablet seems to be running is 4.0.3 (tablet is running 4.0.4, possibly AOSP) I would like to downgrade the device to 4.0.3 to see if having a matching sdk version will help adb pick up the device.

This is where I need help, I cannot remember how to install a different version of android on the device, it's been years since I last rooted an android phone and back then it was with an online guide that I've long since forgot.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

1) Find a 4.03 (or 4.04)ROM written for that particular device.

2) Follow the instructions that should come with the ROM for flashing it.

You might want to start with upport@easypix.eu since that's the manufacturer.

(And you might find that you need adb to be able to talk to the tab to flash a new ROM to it, which could either mean an obscure driver [which they could help you with] or a defective device.)
