downgrading from 2.2 to 2.1?

Ok so ever since I got android 2.2 a couple of days ago, I've been having this problem with my text messages where I'm not getting a text until hours after someone ends it to me. I never had this problem before I download 2.2 so I don't think its just a conisidence that it started immediately after I made the upgrade.

This is a serious problem for me and I want to downgrade back to 2.1 and see if that solves the problem. how would I do this? Would the process be the same as upgrading to 2.2 was? Where would I go to get the 2.1 file?

You should do a factory data reset. settings>privacy>factor data reset

I'm not rooted unfortunately and don't want to root...but would a factory reset get me back to 2.1

your only option for going back to 2.1 is to use the factory SBF and flash all the way back to 2.0.1 the flash the 2.1 OTA(stock/no root). those two procedures can be found in this thread. http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/136508-guide-all-things-root-related.html But know that if you go this route, you will get the 2.2 update notification asking you to upgrade again.
