Help Download Mode USB Drivers Not Installing

Hello. I'm trying to update to 2.2 on my Captivate. I installed the drivers from Samsung's Captivate support page, and the phone was recognized and installed as far as drivers just fine but then when I put it into Download Mode I get USB Device Not Recognized. Updating to 2.2 through Kies keeps failing after extracting the binary files. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers already, not sure what else to do. Tried pointing the driver search to the specific folder into which the drivers were installed. Phone is in Debugging mode. Tried several USB ports and none work. Windows XP Pro SP3. Would really appreciate any ideas.

i know it sounds dumb but make sure your using the USB ports on the motherboard not the case. if you're using a desktop.....my drivers wont install at all.

if your just trying to transfer files turn debugging off and choose mass storage.

All of my USB ports are on the mobo.
