Help Downloaded files not showing in EZ File Explorer or Astro

Hi everyone:

I'm posting for a friend of mine. When he download files into the Download folder, he can access them with the original system application file manager (the one that came in with the phone); However, these files are invisible to third party's file manager applications, specificly EZ File Explorer or Astro. The Download folder is visible for this applications though.

No idea of what is going on. Any suggestion is greatly appreciate it.

Does your friend have a microSD card or is he just using the internal storage?

Only thing I can think of is that he's not looking at the appropriate storage area in Astro or EZ File Explorer.

Well, he is really looking to the internal flash memory. I tried myself to get to external SDcard but I could not find the mounting directory. Myself I have a LG Esteem the external sdcard is mounted on /mnt/sdcard/_ExternalSD/; However, I could not find the mounting directory in this Phone. Any ideas.

I still don't know if he has a microSD card mounted because you haven't clarified that.

Assuming he does, that should show up in Astro. It's likely that the first folders that are shown are already in the internal SD, so all he would need to do is go UP (or back) and then among other folders, you should see sd card and sd card-ext folders.

I think Motorola doesn't allow files to be visible on their phones. My buddy has the same problem with his atrix 2.

Yes he has an external Micro SDcard. We already tried with Astro going up and down and we couldn't get to the directory in question. Thank you for your replied.

So that might be the situation on this phone. So you can get to the hidden directory using only the original Manufacture (Motorola) installed file manager right.

Yes he has an external Micro SDcard. We already tried with Astro going up and down and we couldn't get to the directory in question. Thank you for your replied.

Okay. From the way you had described looking for the SD card (external) drive, you were looking in the wrong directory.

Take a look at the screenshots I have using Astro:

After clicking on File Manager, you should see this screen:

You can see that the drives are labeled as sdcard and sdcard-ext. The download folder could be in one file directory or the other or both. Downloads can come from everywhere and not every app that has downloads necessarily allows you to re-route those to the exterior SD. I can 100% guarantee you that you should be able to see all the files in both the interior storage (e.g. sdcard) or the exterior micro sd (e.g. sdcard-ext)

I talked to my friend today and he got the situation resolved. When he told me about the problem he had with the file managers I suggested him to turn off the phone take out the battery and external SD card reinsert them in place again and reboot (turn on) again the phone, he told me he would do so at home that night because he was busy at that moment (5 min is what it all take, too busy ??? Hummmm). So when I so him again next day I asked him if he still has the same situation and he said to that yes. Well today he reported to me that he finally got to do my first suggestion (taking out the battery, etc.) and that now the file managers could see the directory sdcard-ext. Well, I have to say thanks to everyone that replied to me but I really feel like a foolish to say the least and really irate at him.

I learned a lesson today the hard way, NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING, ASK FIRST IF SOMEONE FOLLOWS THROUGH WITH YOUR FIRST SUGGESTION BEFORE MAKING A SECOND ONE, it was really a waist of time for everyone.
