Root Downloading apps to your PC

I've read a lot on this topic and have found a few windows solutions but i'm running linux on my PC so is it possible to download apps from google play to my PC instead of the phone?

From the play store? To my knowledge, no... And getting them from elsewhere can be a big invitation to malware or other problems.

Is there a specific app/reason you need it on your pc?

Yes from the play store, but it was just an idea so I would have a copy of the APKs to use at a later date instead of downloading them again. Also I have found that certain updated apps don't work quite as well as the older ones on my prevail so that's another reason. No big though, I can just copy them off the phone after the fact right?

you can save all the apk's or use titanium for those certain apps or if not switching roms you can use the advanced restore of the sdext for apps. me i have folders for each rom on pc and save the cwm backups from each to the right folder, then just use the sdext to restore my apps and have no problems whatsoever or just restore the cwm backup. you just don't want to restore apps from one rom to another. works for me great with no problems.

I see, sounds good. I've been using the CWM backup thus far and works great but I am looking into Titanium since I plan on either changing my launcher or maybe some other stuff. I'm actually trying to find info on changing the icons in the Xperia launcher to ones I have on my PC. Was going to make a new thread for that though. Thanks for your input.

Cwm has all your apks just browse the folders.
Data/data
I believe.
Also you can do this with root explorer. Same way.
Or even miui file explorer.
As long as you have root they can and will work.

I use 'root uninstaller'

It's free in the play store, and it will back up your apks to the sdcard for easy one-touch installation (even makes a copy of all of them the first time you open it. Located in /sdcard/rootuninstaller/autobackup)

No unzipping backups needed :)
